How I Destroy A Painting And Then Rebuild It

This is a time-lapse painting demonstration video showing how I create an original figurative oil painting. "Parisian Girl With Blue Jacket" is from my Overview series, artwork depicting people walking from above in my signature "Pixel Impressionism" style. I consider my work part of the Paintography movement in Contemporary Art.

Starting with the actual reference footage used to make the painting, the time-lapse documents the fascinating process of creation, complete revision and re-creation. It shows an almost finished painting completely destroyed, then repainted until, finally, the work is completed.

Nice work, Shiva! I think I see why you destroyed the first version (the foreshortening looked weird), but I can't see what you changed to make the second one look right.

Thanks, Ann. When I did the second one, I basically redrew it, and that's what it needed. Sometimes I can paint Alla Prima (just start blocking in the shapes without doing any sketching on the canvas), and other times, I need to rely on drawing the figure first.
