I am trying to get the videos embedded into the lessons, but there still needs to not be too many videos per post so it will not cause long download times)

Hi Monica
I would love for you to show the new crochet-ers how to end a sc row that is made into a swatch size. I have had so many that are new to crocheting ask me how do you keep the edges straight. Do I miss the first st. and go into it to start a row, or make the st. as soon as you turn. I find that to make my rows straight, I miss the first st. and at the end of the row go into the very last st. to even out the one I missed at the first. Could you please do that for the new crochet-ers.
Thanks!!!
Catherine,
If I am understanding your question correctly, I think I can tell you how to make sure your rows end up straight. There is a difference between single crochet and double crochet. On double crochet, the ch 3 acts as the first dc, therefore to make straight rows you actually start on the second dc, and when you have done one dc, you have the equivalent of two dc's (ch-3 = 1 dc). On single crochets, however, the 1 chain is only to give you height to turn with and have your single crochet look right. Therefore when you are working sc's you will put your first sc in the top of the first sc and sc in each of the previous rows sc until you reach the end. You know you will have straight edgesif you make sure your count is always right. If you have 12 sc's on the first row and only 11 on the second, the edge will pull in. If you have 13 on the second row, theedge will bulge. My key is to always always always make sure I have correct stitch count.
Does that answer your question?
Thanks for commenting!
Yes it does, but I was wondering if you could make a picture slide show or video, so the new crocheter-s out there in crochet land could actually watch how you keep the edges straight. It would be so helpful the newbies.
Thanks again
