This museum is located on 231 North in Troy, Alabama. I have passed it on numerous occasions and between the rain showers on Saturday, Allen and I decided to go see what all it had to offer. Come on in and see if there are items you recognize or if you can name the different styles of buggies/carriages. This first part is of the main building and the treasures to be had in it. I decided to do this in video format because to post all the pictures would probably overload Gather :) I have to say I was very impressed with this museum. There are a lot of interesting things to be found here. They also have educational activities. You can visit their website at: http://www.pioneer-museum.org/ The second part of this series will feature the wonderful buildings and equipment found on the Museum grounds.

Acckkkk. I don't like the decreased quality of the photos in this! You can not tell, but the murals on the walls were outstanding! Superb artwork.
Renda, don't beat up on yourself. It was a great video presentation . I saw some great displays and particularly liked the moonshine still ! Good job.
Believe it or not, Phil the moonshine still against the wall was recently acquired when law enforcement seized and removed it from its owner in 2006. The one in front is from the 30s. As you can see, copper is still the material of choice for stills :)
awesome
Thanks Fancy.
Looks like a great museum. I enjoyed this.
Kay, it has a lot of interesting items and buildings.
Great slideshow.
Thanks, Matthew.
A good approach, too, in how to show your multitude of photos. The place looks pretty darn big!
Tracy, it is huge. The main building (which these photos were taken in) is divided into 5 sections. I decided to go with a photo essay for part II so the picture quality is maintained.
pioneer days fascinate me....I loved looking at all the photos...wish I could go there! I also wish that I had any clue at all how to make a photo video.
Marsha those days fascinate me too. As much as we fuss about things, we are very fortunate to have day to day activities be so much easier than they were then.
What photo software do you use? I have Picasa (it is free) on my laptop and you have the option to make "movies" from it. I also have MuveeProducer on my desk PC, but I haven't used it in a while.
I don't think I have any photo software on this computer...I will have to check in to it
Check it out, Marsha and if you don't...you can get Picasa free. On it you can combine your photos into a video like this one. If you need help, let me know.
This was interesting, nice to see all these things.
Thank you, Nana.
You choose a most excellent tune to go along with the pictures.
I can't imagine how long it took to get all this collected and put together, so many authentic items and the murels to go along with the collection. Someone put a lot of effort into making this a great place to really get a feel for life back in the pioneer days...Thanks for sharing it with me today
I thought that song was perfect for this. I can not imagine how long it took for them to collect and organize all these items. Not only did they organize them, but they divided this building into sections and when you go through it...it is just amazing...endless displays that you could spend forever looking at.
Certainly a great crew of professionals had their hands into the organizing and display. It's not easy setting up even a little Memorial or Museum. If I traveled...I'd go there to see it first hand.
If you ever could get this way, you would be welcomed Katherine. However, this will be here for you too look at whenever you wish.
Thanks Renda, traveling long distances is on the bottom of my top 100 things to do in the next few years....It seems that as I've aged my body has decided that sitting in a car longer then an hour at a time is cause to riot and run amuck.
It is wonderful to be able to see through my friends eyes the beauty they encounter along their paths.
You are welcome. That's the way I feel about some of yours and my other connections posts and photos...I get to see things I may not otherwise see. It is great to be able to do that.
I understand about the traveling. We did not go very far this weekend, but it was far enough to wear me out when we finally got home. It isn't too bad if I'm driving.
Such a historical work you have disclosed with us...
I appreciate...
Syed, I appreciate you taking the time to stop by here and have a look at this. Thank you!
This was great! I really liked the music too.
Thanks, Holly. The music is free and can be found here:

They have a variety of music you can use.
Happy Friday to you!
Cool...thanks for the link, it's now bookmarked...
You're welcome, Katherine. They have some interesting music on there. Some I like and some I don't care for, but it is worth going through to find the ones you like.
Hey, when I went to that site...my computer froze up and I got a java warning..which is odd, because my system is brand new and I have the latest java update....
Wow. I don't know why it would have done that. I didn't have a problem with mine. I just checked it again to make sure there wasn't a problem before I responded here. I checked my Java and I have Java 6 and am on the 13 update (installed in March). Weird that it will not work for you.
Thanks for sharing. ...
