Exploring another of the city's chain of lakes, this being Cedar. (Minnehapolis, city of the falls, became Minneapolis, city of the lakes, as it spread out further away from St. Anthony to encompass more territory, according to one tale. Minneapolis is also known as the Mill City because of its leadership in the flour milling industry in its heyday.)
Cedar Lake Point Beach is not really a beach. It is more of a duck feeding and watching place with a couple benches near the water. Cars park here also, by those who come to jog or hike around the lake. The actual beach area is across the lake over by those far towers. As the beach is closed at this time of year, I didn't bother to go over by it. The beach has been there for as long as I remember since childhood, and lifeguards are provided. Theodore Wirth beach is much larger, and has facilities for changing and such. But I'm sure Calhoun or Nokomis rank as the best beaches to visit. The Aquatennial has special events at these locations too.
