I always like your little videos, good thinking, true thinking.
i think if we have to scan, pay and bag it ourselves and the store doesn't have to pay for a checker nor a bagger, why shouldn't the goods be cheaper?!

Yo, George..Spot on! Fonny thing tho-- in our somewhat bejeweled and dewlapped neck of the woods, that checkout line is often uninhabited-- only an occasional sort of lurky figure ducks through -- and sometimes glances up defiantly-- why this is I do not know.. but worse than this dual message you note, is the feeling that it is wrong and doomed, to have an economy based on stores becoming larger and every business having to GROW and Advertise to succeed. Mebbe its my advanced age, but think I always felt this way-- reduce reuse , grow and buy locally, fight Affluena, and Keep the coal in the ground.. oh well. Currently digging a root cellar for our new little food storage group in the middle of Butterscotch Krimpet Mannsions. Cheers
