[ATTENTION: This is political and musical humor with a democratic bias! Obama voters: enjoy! Die-Hard McCain voters: Cover your eyes! Swing voters: This is for you! A quartet of rabbits parodies a Mamas & Papas classic to immortalize the journey of the McCain-Palin Straight-Talk Express straight to ???? I wrote and recorded the song with like-minded friends (credited by name at the end of the song) and then I animated it with... Rabbits and Airplanes and Sarah, oh my! I had fun making it -- hope you have fun watching it! And please feel free to forward it to anyone and everyone! It's on YouTube as well, at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hYsxlBA2rHc The lyrics are in subtitles, so have fun singing along! -Gillian p.s. Happy dancing!]

APOLOGIES! Please comment BELOW after viewing, BUT to WATCH THE CLIP ON YOUTUBE where it actually PLAYS SMOOTHLY, CLICK HERE! After the clip plays, hit the back button in your browser to return to this comments page.
WHY? Good question! For some reason, the video gets destroyed when it's played here on Gather, although it works just fine on YouTube or when I post it on a regular website as a Shockwave file. Sorry for the inconvenience -- I'm working on fixing this! --Gillian

BRAVO!!! Absolutely awesome job. Clever lyrics, and particularly fond of the Palin cameo with her "hunting." I've forwarded the link along to a couple friends. Hope all else is well. THanks for the laugh.

Well, I couldn't get YouTube to play smoothly either after about 2 minutes because of buffering problems. However, what I did see and HEAR was wonderful. The animation is so cute and the singing is great. If you are the lead, you are very good. Nice harmonies. Great work Gillian. Of course I expect no less from you. So very nice to hear from you.
Here's a bit of news. I insanely signed up for National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) which starts tomorrow. You may already know that means I am to write a 50,000 word novel in just 30 days. Ha Ha. Wish me luck.
BTW, Serial Fiction has been resurrected. Please drop by. We have a really cute ghost story going that you might be interested in.

Part of the reason I thought to send you the link is because I just found my unfinished copy of Fire Bell in the Night. You probably don't remember me telling you this, but I had been so captivated by the first chapter when it caught my eye in an airport bookstore that I paid for it with my last pocketful of quarters, nickels, and dimes. But just as I was getting well into it, my dad came to town and I helped him reorganize his storage space here, and in the upheaval of going through twenty cartons of his assorted books, photos and MSS, Fire Bell disappeared. And it stayed gone until last week. When my dad returned to retrieve a U-Haul's worth of stuff he wanted to ship home, I found that it had gotten packed away with his books. ARGH and hooray! Anyway, I opened to the first page so I could refresh my memory, and once again, I was blown away by your fantastic writing. ("My Lord!") This time, I'm not letting it out of my sight til I finish the last page.
Also, I read your poem, "Green", before when my Gather wasn't working, so I couldn't post a comment or message, and I just wanted to tell you how much I liked it -- you really painted some lovely visions in my head! Actually, now that it's working again, I'll get over there again and post.
And yes I DO know about NaNoWriMo! I did it two years ago -- the first ambitious writing project I'd ever done. I actually did get the 50,000 done by deadline, and it was such a great feeling! I never would've done it except that I was rushing through the bookstore one day and a title caught my eye and jerked me to a stop. The book was called "No Plot? No Problem!" I started flipping the pages and found that it was by a guy who had started a novel-writing challenge. I thought, "Oh yeah, I think I've heard of this..." And guess what day I found that book? OCTOBER 29th. I bought the book, thought about it for one day, and at the stroke of midnight on Nov. 1, I started writing. What a fun month that was! I couldn't wait to get up every day and start writing so I could find out what happened next!
I'm actually still working on that novel -- I wrote 50K words, but that only got me halfway through the story -- whoops! Since then, I finished a romance novel for the Gather Chapters contest and I've written lots of stories and essays, and NaNoWriMo kicked it all off. Your comment got me thinking, actually -- maybe I should do it again this year? Well, just like before, I've got the rest of the day to decide... You're going to have a blast!
