War Planes Buzz Copenhagen

A short video of waves of F-16s flying over our Stock Exchange and Christiansborg Parliamentary Building. One old survivor of the German Occupation of April 9, 1940, who saw this clip, said he'd never seen so much warplane traffic over Copenhagen since that fateful morning 58 years ago. A few days prior to this there began a hot debate in Parliament, regarding redirecting further moneys to continue the invasion of Iraq... and the battles in Afghanistan. Denmark's current Anders Fogh Rasmussen government is about the only one in the world that still believes in the Bush/McCain/Palin Delusion. Not saying it is bad to protect ourselves from real threats... but let's not forget what Republican President/General Eisenhower said in 1960 in his Farewell Speech, and which Democratic President Kennedy affirmed just prior to his assassination... about the real and present danger of the Military Industrial Complex, so inextricably tied to the fossil fuel multinationals. To engender divisiveness, xenophobia and paranoia on peoples is how a few men make incredible fortunes, oh so temporary and fleeting.

But that influence in the world, in the past 8 years, has perhaps been the most corrosive in the entire history of the USA, and on almost all levels of society.
Ruth, where? Were you in Hawaii?
F. Jeanette, according to most experts, Denmark is the oldest existing kingdom in the world. Our queen can trace her genes back over a 1000 years, to Gorm den Gamle, or Gorm the Old", who - as the grandson of Norway's Prince Ragnar Lodbrok, organized several regions of chieftains in the 9th century into one kingdom. Those old Vikings certainly had many conquer and pillage celebrations around Europe, with Odin as the primary symbol until some monks from Ireland came a bit later, trying to tame all that, like the snakes where they came from (no pun really intended)...
I though Japan or Thailand were the oldest, ah well. My mother was a Finn, they knew about all that conquering. Even Russia, sliced a piece of Finland off, I went to visit once in the late 80's-strange to have it light all night.
Are you saying US war planes were sent to intimidate them?
If so, that is scary. But wouldn't that set off 24/7 news coverage of people protesting, at least the government in Copenhagen?
"We want to be sure that the politicians are aware of our capability," Colonel Niels Svaerdborg was quoted as saying in Wednesday's edition of the daily.
Svaerdborg is head of the F-16 squadron in Skrydstrup, southern Jutland where all 48 Danish Air Force F-16s are based since 2005.
