Gino D'Auri: Italian by birth, musician by inspiration, Flamenco by fate / 25 years touring and performing with the best in Europe and the United States / born in Rome, the grandson of a Rom (gypsy, gitano). He began studying classical guitar, but while in his teens, D'Auri was "traumatized by flamenco" when he saw the movie "SOMBRERO" with Jose Greco, the legendary flamenco dancer, and Geronimo Villarino, one of the all-time great flamenco guitarists. D'Auri began playing flamenco music and investigating the rich cultures that fed the tradition. In 1967, D'Auri moved to the Los Angeles area, where he played in the flamenco clubs. In 1976, he recorded with Caldera, a groundbreaking world fusion band. He died Jan. 26, 2007 of cancer at his home in Los Angeles The concept and the title for Flamenco Mystico, to go deeper into the Moorish heritage of Spanish music, and to explore the harmonic minor spaces that the digital reverb created from the sound of the guitar itself. "Los Moros" (9:56) an extended multi-section piece incorporating both Tango and Bulerias rhythms; evokes the time of the Moorish culture in Spain.

We had a class where we learned the Flamenco dances all of us had
those Castenets fastened to our thumbs and played with the fingers.
I loved doing that dance was the best in my class even at playing the
Castenets was very hard to learn!! I am bragging but I earned it!!
