Lining Up to See Obama

It's nice to see people excited about the election

How is lining up to hear someone speak some kind of assumption that someone is a god?

Well, I haven't heard of people lining up for 15 blocks to get into church. I suppose we're talking apples and oranges. Engagement of a large segment of the population who never showed any interest before is a *great* thing. For this we can thank both Obama AND Clinton. I would have been okay with her being the nominee too, but it has to be him or her. To elect another Republican at this time would be rewarding them for letting their party be hijacked by a criminal enterprise. It's not all on Bush; his party bears some responsibility.

That is amazing, we wanted to see him in Grand Rapids but people had been lined up since the night before.

He is a remarkable speaker and wonderful to see in person. When he came to Portland for his first rally I was an undecided voter. I received my electronic "ticket" that was not a guaranteed entry and arrived early to stand in line. The Convention Center has a rounded front with several entries so we were lined up into about 8 long lines like a patient octopus. We awaited our screening via TSA agents and made our way in. I purposely sat at the very top row high up looking down on the stage and around at the audience. I could only see about 200 empty seats total. He was introduced by Congressman Earl Blumenauer and endorsed by Governor Bill Richardson. It was an exciting rally and my first political event besides some protests in the past. I walked out fairly decided but open to hearing more from Senator Clinton. Hearing none of the ideas and responses that I had looked for, I did commit to Senator Obama shortly after this event.

Jennifer, we didn't brave the crowds either. You could just feel it in the air downtown. The nightmare promises to be ending.

Rhonda, the fire marshall here reported 17,000 people inside (that's capacity) and another 15,000 standing outside. If there were no Obama, I'd be gaga for Clinton, but he's it. I think he'll make and outstanding president.

Don, April and Jan - I couldn't wait in that long line. No way. I didn't get off work until it was 8 blocks long anyway, and that would have placed me squarely outside.

Clearly, this was an amazing moment - and a very proud one - in American History. When was the last time an African American received a major party nomination for presidential candidate? This speech was a defining moment - no wonder so many people lined up.

Sing it. Yes, and the beauty of it is he will be running fueled by the content of his character, and his overall competence. Not only is he a black man; he's the most qualified man I have ever seen hold, or run for, the office.
