You know what I found interesting? A state allowing Gay Marriages and bring in Millions of dollars of revenue a year. Just think if they used that money for the schools?

I support equal rights for everyone, I think the constitution is to give rights not take them way. That is why I am a proud liberal. :-)

There are issues to be addressed that aren't just about you:

"Marriage" is a religious concept; we supposedly enjoy "Separation of Church and State". Therefore, "marriage" is an institution that the state has no business recognizing. Government would serve The People by allowing consenting adults to enter into domestic contractual agreements...

I view marriage as a contract, and as such it is a necessity for any two individuals entering a permanent living arrangement. Call it a domestic partnership or whatever you like, but it should not be restricted by sexual orientation or any other bias.

Racheline, I can think of no legitimate reason for the state to deny you, a consenting, unmarried adult, the rights that come with legal marriage to any other consenting, unmarried adult.

For that matter, I can think of no legitimate reason any religion that espouses a loving deity should deny you the right to marry someone you love, just because she happens to be another woman. They do, and that's their right, but I don't agree.

I think we need to seperate State Marriages and Religious Marriages. The only reason NOT to allow two men or two women to marry each other is to appease the religious sector. The religious sector has no business telling the State what we can or cannot do, solely based on religious beliefs. I mean when Christians marry, they are doing it to a very different god than that of the Muslims or Hindus.

Anyway, point is that even if gays are given all the same legal rights and privileges as straights, unless they are able to go through the exact same legal process, and be able to tick off 'Married' when they fill out forms just like their straight counter parts IT IS NOT EQUALITY.
