Couple Sues MasterBank and Satan for Making Them Broke and Ignorant: Will Millions of American Follow Them? (Los Angeles, CA). In what could be a landmark case, a California couple today sued MasterBank and the much-maligned "Satan" for making them, in their attorneys words," broke, and ignorant." Joe Debtor and his wife, Ima, both 37, allege in their legal complaint that they were of average earning ability and intelligence before a steady flow of MasterBank's irresistible credit card offers made them "ruin their lives." "After several years of promiscuous spending," Mr. Debtor said, "I became the broke and ignorant person I am today."

Good for Joe and Ina for trying. Credit card companies purposely offer loans to people they know can't afford to pay them off so that they can enslave them for life as each month they must make payments on fees ,interest and late charges and the principle never goes down. I am very much for personal responsibility but I am also for ethical responsibility. In my son's freshman year of college he had no job and yet our mailbox was full of credit cards he did not apply for that were already activated. Banks and loan companies sent him checks that were good and ready to be cashed with just his signature. We spent a lot of time shredding.

Here's an idea: Only carry cash you have earned and when it's gone stop spending until you earn some more.
