Shots of Bath, Maine, one of the towns that helped inspire Stone Harbor, Maine, in the novel "The Way Life Should Be." Correction: In the video I mistakenly said workers were tearing down the old Carlton Bridge, when in fact they were just removing asbestos.

Thanks, everyone. Bath is a fantastic town and the people are great. If you're ever downeast along Route 1, it's well worth a stop. The Maine Maritime Museum is excellent. The downtown is full of shops and restaurants. I'm content just walking around there, looking at the architecture.

You've only captured a wee part of the Maine I love but it was what I needed this early morn. We go up to Flye Point on the Blue Hill peninsula every summer and pass through Brunswick, Bath, Damiscotta, Thomaston, Rockland, and Camden on our way. Maine has such great little coastal towns....think i need to think about purchasing your book....so i can spend alittle time in maine this winter.

Terry, I just starting reading your book. I love it...I have a very special place in my heart for Maine. My son & I summered over 10 years in Northeast, Harbor. And, I as a interior designer, I did a lot of work in that area ...the one design work that I am most proud of was
being fortunate to design for the University of Maine, The Mahaney Baseball Club House.
Which, my late fiance Larry Mahaney, gave as a gift to his beloved school & his beloved state.

Terry great video. I too wished they were longer. The bridge isn't the one I created in my mind as the one in my mind was older with high fencing as he was trying to get to his family. Oh well, it doesn't take away from the story at all. I still liked the novel very much and look forward to more from you in the way of a new book.

I'm glad you like the book! My wife and I now live in Knoxville, which is why I have the Tennessee shirt. While I'm a proud graduate of Penn State, I do love Tennessee men's and women's basketball. Of course, I do need to get a Maine Black Bears shirt, since they look so cool.

Thanks also for the writing tip on how you created your fictional place for the novel. I do this all the time with characters but have limited myself to real places as far as location goes. Interesting to think about as my prose skills grow. Really, thanks.

Thanks, Wiaka! I did describe a slightly different bridge in the book, with chainlink fence and a closed section where the railroad tracks were. The bridge in the book was also higher.

Great video! Maine is one of my favorite places to visit in the US. Besides the fantastic people, beautiful scenery, and cozy little towns, my sister went to school there and stayed after graduation. As I was reading your book, I kept thinking of all the little towns I've visited on my trips there.

Boy does this bring back memories! I love Maine and this just reminded me of the trip I took there. We drove up the coast and visited all the little towns. Have you hiked up to see the plague with the poem by Edna St Vincent Millay? My best feeling came from Camden when as I was walking around one evening. Bubbles suddenly appeared and filled the air! Someone in an apartment above the town had a huge fan and was sending bubbles out his window. What fun! It made me so happy to be there. Glad things are going well. This visual makes the book even better for me.

Terry, excellent video. I love these seaside towns in Maine. I've spent a lot of time in Bar Harbor and enjoyed taking the meandering ride up Rt 1 to get there on a couple of occasions.

Sometimes, a picture is worth a thousand words. In this case, a series of images made a million words seem trivial. An excellent description of the setting for your novel, Terry. The next thing the technical gurus have to develop is "smellovision" so we can stimulate the olfactory center in addition to the visual and hearing centers.
