This is from a friend in another group and I thought all would be interested.
Hello All,
Well I spent the better half of this morning getting in touch with an Information Specialist at the Department of Copy Rights in Washington,DC.
After explaining everything to them about the force tactic's these artist's are using to force us into purchasing their copy rites & tubes, I was told flat out that they have a right to do this, because it's their art work.
We don't have to buy it, but they can put it out there for sale. I also explained our intention's for use of the material's we snag & collect, and that it is for entertainment purposes only.
They asked for specific detail's as to what we did with our creation's, and I confirmed that no monies are being made through the PSP groups. That most all member's are simply folks pretty much stuck at home, disabled, elderly, and those just taking on a hobby for a means of relaxation, etc.
After explaining that I was told that we have the right to do as we please.
It's called the "Fair Use Act". That indeed if ever dragged into court by any of them, they would indeed be wasting their time, as they would only be entitled to a percentage of any monetary gain, and if there is none, they can't get any. So....you can tell people about the "Fair Use Act" and advise them to call 202-707-3000 or 202-707-5959 to confirm this information.
