It is always so sad when animals get thrown out to fend for themselves. I am feeding several stray cats in my neighborhood ... one that has kittens.

The one being a hunting dog (and a purebred it looks like thus not cheap), with a collar more then likely allowed it's nose to get the best of it.
Our dogs are ALWAYS hungry.
Hope they find there way home, or someone helps them!

That one with the collar needs a good grooming.

I know that in a lot of areas in our backcountry, people let their dogs run free and they often get into temporary packs that can cause trouble. Sometimes, the packs will break up and each dog will go back to their respective homes only to get together again later.

I've sent the photo and location to several local rescue groups. Hopefully they can help. I'm going to take some dog food when I go back to the park later.

I would have taken them in, cleaned them up, fed them, and taken them to the vet to be scanned for microchips. If no chips, I would have advertised them found for the owner to come and claim. And if no owner came, I would have kept them until a rescue could take them in (or kept them myself permanently!). One time someone dumped a purebred Irish setter in front of our house. I took him in and kept him until a rescue took him and had him treated for heartworm. The rescue eventually placed him in a great home. Another time someone dumped a toy poodle in front of our house. It was dirty and matted. I bathed and trimmed it and found a beautiful dog under all that messy hair. I found the dog a good home with a family.

I tried to round them up to take them to a rescue shelter that I know but they wanted nothing to do with me.

I'm wary of the spaniel, it was the least friendly of the two dogs. I don't think he was appreciated by his previous owner.

I just hate to see dogs on the loose....sigh...I've more then once put them in the back yard as I try to find the owners...which doesn't go over well with my Boys
