I usually make poke with ahi tuna but I decided to try it with fresh wild salmon. The salmon is rubbed with a little rice wine, rice vinegar, and white wine. Then I add minced onions, cilantro, sesame oil, and soy sauce to taste. Finally I season it with salt and pepper and a squeeze of lemon or lime juice.
This plate was assembled with fresh tomatoes from the garden and creamy avocado. It was served onto salad plates with crisp lettuce.
It had a milder flavor than the ahi but it was quite good.

little yellow pear tomatoes...Sam likes to grow small tomatoes. I favor the big ones.

I rather guessed this was not the poke salad of the south with wild greens found by the wayside! (remember "Poke Salad Annie"?)

Now I would love to taste Poke salad even without Annie.
This poke is pronounced pokey...like hokey pokey.
I think it might be Hawaiian.

I had tuna poke a few times when I visited Maui.
