That was the name of my squirrel when I was a kid...my uncle Pet raised him and his brothers and sisters after a hunting trip. They got loose and invaded the attic, eventually they left for wild parts unknown.

around here you see the little guys lose whole hands. Im guessing they get to cold digging in the snow for food when food is in short supply they have to spend a lot of time digging and their little hands pay the price. That is one reason i go to the parks and feed them winter around here is really rough on them.

i see them just down the street from me, had one in the yard a few years back put out all sorts of goodies never seen him again, Im guessing all the cats around here ran them away

I don't know if I could deal with rats, I used to have jerbels. drove my cat nuts that he couldn't have them.

rats are a lot smarter than gerbils, ive had a lot of different exotic rodents like Egyptian spiny mice, zebra mice, degu. But rats are like little dogs and they are trainable too

I had a couple baby rats for awhile. I had them outside because it was summer time. the white rat excaped, I gave the other to my daughter. she had him for awhile, she really liked him.
I also have come face to face with a wild one or two, they hold there ground, unlike wild mice.

One of the things I do in the fall is collect the acorns that fall onto my back patio and the yard. The main reason is that they become a "hazard to navigation" when there is frost or ice, as they roll underfoot! I used to toss them off the patio into the bushes, then realized I could just collect them in a basket on the back porch, along with the hardshell pecans and black walnuts I collect from my trees, and then dump a few cups of nuts on top of the ice and snow in winter. The squirrels seem to appreciate it, it keeps them off my bird feeders, and doesn't cost me anything but the time I would have spent cleaning up the nuts from the yard anyway.

that's a great idea had though about going out in the forestry area and collecting some for the squirrels in the park, the city squirrels here have it rough not very many nut trees left people cut them down to prevent the mess from the nuts

he was POed today and would not come off the tree :( just stood there having a fit, But it was raining and he kept putting his tail over his head for an umbrella
