14" X 11" oil on canvas, "Pixel Man Number Two" by Warren Keating, is a dynamic, figurative painting from my award-winning series, Overview, that was featured on CNN. It depicts an overhead view of an old Parisian man walking in Paris on Rue Cherche Midi. I got the reference for this painting from the balcony of my room at the Hotel Ferrandi. The style of this painting reflects a type of mark making that I have invented, a kind of "pixelated impressionism" where the expressive swashes of paint depict the pixels from the original digital video reference image, also considered part of the Paintography movement. It is painted on archival, heavy duty 1 1/2-inch-deep stretched canvas with the edges painted white, no need for framing.

Some of the characters you bring to life, kind of tug at the heart in that they make you "feel"
I'd love to run and stop this old gentleman and ask if I might carry his parcel for him. I love the varied shades in the blue background and the way the features are so clearly cut and pronounced and at the same time muted. You blend and soften while still detailing.
