Nancy;

with MANY of us it's not that we don't want to help the less fortunate it is that we have seen again and again the money go not to those in need, but those just out of college, often the children of supporters, absorbed into huge bureaucracies who suck the money up and give damn little to those the system is designed for.

do you have any idea how MUCH of your dollar your donate the the Red Cross actually GOT to NOLA after Katrina??? Not much and they aren't government.

When I was a young person, I thought things should stay the same. I thought what's wrong with the status quo. Now that I'm older (and probably not as old as others here I'll conced) I find that without change nothing will ever get done. ... so perhaps I am heartless for not wanting change as a young person... and just possible I am so stupid as to think my fellow human beings could benefit from change.

I have been a registered independent for over a decade. Before that for a quarter of a century I was a democrat.
In my time I have voted for every party that was available to me, and made my choices based on the PERSON running, not the party.
I did not vote for, but DO support Obama... but I want the same kind of critical scrutiny and STANDARDS applied to him as his predecessor.
That is only fair.
