We were there for a quick run... My girlfriend and I went to pick up another friend who lived there so she can come to her aunt's funeral here in Chicago. She had no way of getting here otherwise. Believe me, I was thinking of you as we passed Lansing... I remembered you mentioned the name a lot in your articles!
She actually had all her worldy goods packed in 2 suitcases and a few odd bags... she moved everything that she considered essential and left everything else. She decided she was moving to Illinois to be with family and was taking this opportunity to do it so, that was that. I thought we would be able to take her back and be able to have a less hectic trip and perhaps make arrangements for coffee with you somewhere but it was not to be.
I must have clicked 50 shots off while we were driving... the sky was fabulous that day... I could imagine it was just incredible by any body of water!
Thank you Sue... Mother Nature can be awesome. We were all quite broken-hearted in the car, we were on our way to Chicago knowing full well our friend had just died and we were bringing her niece back for the memorial service (the body was flown to the Philippines where she was buried later)
It's all right. She died suddenly but she was also unusually happy when she died. She was thinking she was being discharged soon and was going home to recuperate in the Philippines. She was quite depressed days before, and then she had these 2 good days when the doctors gave her the thumbs up for an early discharge. We were all very pleased for her and then it happened.
Thanks, Mona.
They suspected it might have been an embolism or her heart just gave up... she had seven surgical procedures while she was in the hospital the last 2 months... The family did not ask for an autopsy. They figured she's been through enough already and she just had too many things going against her. Thet donated her eyes, they were the only organs intact left.
Mona, thanks... I think Mother Nature was showing off :-)
Thanks Kris, Grems!
Great shot.
Thanks so much for sharing with my group.
