Looks fresh and yummy! I brought in 6 little ripe cherry tomatoes and 3 Cucumbers from my potted plants yesterday... That's it! Everything is slow this year.
I almost cried when I turned around from washing my hands in the sink and the tomatoes had disappeared from the counter. My sneaky husband had popped them into his mouth before I could even wash them! I had to settle for sliced cucumbers... and wait for more ripe tomatoes.
We've been harvesting beans and cucumbers by the baskets full. Our herbs have been in many a dish already and the tomatoes will take over our world in the next week or so.
Of course, my flowers look spectacular. :o)
I don't know what a couple of my herbs are. I planted them, but then forgot what I'd planted. I need to conduct a smell comparison between them and some I have in the cupboard.
Don't you label your plants Marilee? You should stick the label that comes with your plants into the ground with the plants so you know what plants you have when they are growing.
When the plants do not come with labels e.g. seed packets, I make my own from old plastic window blinds that I cut up into strips or I just use plastic picnic knives. I write the names of the plants with a permanent marker on one end, and stick the other end down into the ground in front of my plant, and voila... a plant marker!
This is the story of my life.
We have yet to use a single sprig. I told him I was going to start putting a sprig on everything we eat. Mac and cheese with a sprig of parsley. Hummis with a sprig of parsley. Ben & Jerry's with a sprig of parsley...
Actually my cilantro just died. I'm sad.
The thing I screw up on without fail is waiting to buy cages. I waited this year and now the stores are out. I'll have to go to a pricey garden center now and pay $20 for one. I'm cringing already.
My tomato plants are still a little above my ankles. I envy you.
