I did. I'm reminded of a priest's words: "Jesus did not die for you because you deserved it. He did it because He loves you." It's a humbling concept that we are loved, blessed and forgiven in spite of our imperfections.

That's the whole idea in a nutshell. It's all about Him, not about us.

Interesting links. According to the first link I fall short of being a good person. However I am human and thus am flawed. I am a person filled with good will and intentions. I may always fall short of being a "good" person but I will never stop striving for it.

We ALL do, Linda! I failed it miserably and still do every day..... That's why we need a Savior and why God gave us his Son.........

I fail to be a good person but not from the lack of trying. I pray for guidance but still fall short. Each night I humbly ask for forgivness.

I am not a good person, and dont deserve salvation. Only Christ is good, and his blood covers my wickedness.

Jesus Christ (Christianity) is a personal one on one relationshipe with God and is God's provision for that which we can NOT accomplish, no matter how we see ourselves and the works we do......

The Ten Commandments are God's means to bring us to the realization that ALL of us fail miserably, that ALL of us deserve eternal damnation and that there is only One that can pay our sin depts to the Almighty and Holy God......... Only ONE....... In the second chapter of Hebrews and third verse we have one of the greatest questions that
God ever asked man. The question is enough to scare any one to death. The question, "How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation?" For if a man neglects the salvation of his soul there is no
escape....... In Hebrews, ninth chapter, twenty-seventh verse, "And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment." So you new agers can forget about reincarnation and getting yourselves a second or more chance! Salvation is the greatest thing in the world is because it cost more than
anything else in the world. Our Salvation cost God His Son, and Jesus Christ every drop of His blood and that shed blood is what covers our sins when we believe and trust in Christ as our Lord and Savior........

Am I a good person?
I would like to think that I am. I try to treat others with the respect they deserve.
Because I was mistreated for years, it really taught me a very valuable lesson.
That no one deserves to be hurt so deeply. Not the way I was hurt, emotionally.

Angela, if you sincerely invite the Lord Jesus Christ into your heart and make him the Lord and Savior of your life, He can and will heal that pain if you give it to Him.. Christians who lead by example in Jesus Christ , can only be good. Not perfect because we are only human and flawed, but good in contrast nonetheless. To live our lives in His Light there can be no darkness.

"And God said, "Let there be light": and there was light. And God saw that the light was good; and God separated the light from the darkness."

People, if you read " Am I a good person" you now know just how sinful we all are.. please make certain that you are saved. That you have accepted Christ as your personal Lord and Savior and are trusting in Him! 155,000 people die each and every day....... None of us know for certain when our turn will come...... Death could come in a flash of an instant, catching us offguard and unprepared........and
God, through His word the Bible, warns about the fate of the unsaved with fearful and dire words...

Shame and everlasting contempt” (Daniel 12:2)
Everlasting punishment” (Matthew 25:46)
Weeping and gnashing of teeth” (Matthew 24:51)
Fire unquenchable” (Luke 3:17)
Indignation and wrath, tribulation and anguish” (Romans 2:8,9)
Everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord” (2 Thessalonians 1:9)
Eternal fire...the blackness of darkness for ever” (Jude 1:7,13)
Revelation 14:10,11 tells us the final, eternal destiny of the sinner: “He shall be tormented with fire and brimstone...the smoke of their torment ascended up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day or night."

God does NOT want you to perish! He is rich in mercy and compassion and has provided a way for you to be forgiven....... Jesus died to set you free! Then He rose from death on the third day to be your Lord and Savior..... Christ said: "I am the way the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." (John 14:6)
If you will confess and forsake (repent) of your sins, trust in Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord, God WILL forgive you and you will pass from death into life.......

Amen, brother/sister. It brings pure happiness to my heart, when I find folks such as yourelf, who believe so strongly and encourage others, not only by your own words, but with the word of God Himself.

I am a good person. And it is not because I have religion or God or Jesus Christ. It is because my mom raised me right.

With all due respect, Oxnard.. Your Mother had nor has little to nothing to do with your salvation or your eternity choices.. that's your own decision to accept or reject.. And no, sadly you aren't good.. Neither am I...... NOT because I say so, as I don't claim to know diddly squat, except what the Good Lord says in His word and futher, He makes that point that we are not good and in desperate need of the Saviour, VERY clear to all of us inclined to know... When God says you are not a good person and are lost without Christ to step in, forgive and cover your sins with His shed blood, then we can and should take Him at His word.. So if God said it, I personally believe it and that settles it for me..... Why? Because though the pain of LOTS of experience, I've learned to be smart enough to know that my arms are much to short to box with Almighty God... How about your's?

I don't care to box with God. I don't even know what that means. But I do know that being a good person has nothing to do with what you call "salvation" or "eternity choices." Being good means doing unto others as we would have others do unto ourselves here on earth today. Being kind and generous and helping those less fortunate than ourselves.

So, my friend...... Am I or are you then good enough to make it into Heaven? All these so called "good" actions and behaviors that we often believe will make us acceptable in God's sight, save us and that we strive so dilligently to practice here on earth, will soon pass away and then what?.... Hebrews 9:27....And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:
Why face God's wrath when you can be forgiven today? Why go to Hell when it's all over, when Jesus took your place on that cross so that you can go free? it is each person's choice whether to embrace God's gift of Grace or reject it by continuing to trust in our own so called goodness to land us in Heaven..

Simply some food for thought.. I pray you think on it seriously, Oxnard and then make the right choice.......

I don't know if there is a heaven or not. That's a much different question than if a person is "good" or not. And whether there is a heaven or not, I know that morality is independent of religion (i.e., we don't need to be religious to have morals).

Dear Oxnard, you are missing the entire point of this post...... Lots of folks believe in Heaven and that if they are good, then that and their good works will approve them in God's sight and they will be accepted into Heaven when they die.. Please click on that link, my friend. Listen to what's being said and then follow the page promptings and READ them to the end......... If you do that, then you should completely understand exactly what this post is about...
