This isn't my own work, but a photograph of a flyer that is floating around the library system here. My hat is off to the person who did it. For non-Ohioians - the Ohio governor thought it might be a good idea to cut funding for libraries by $100 million over the next 2 years. I have a better idea, let's cut the salaries of the governor and anyone else who thinks this is a good idea.

Our local government takes care of this for us. They are so desperate for books they will take gently "read" books and most any current magazine. It is sad.
I've always been in places with highly functioning libraries. In this city, the libraries are also job search centers giving internet access to those without so they can apply for jobs that only accept online applications. They are also Homework/Tutoring centers. Of course it makes sense to cut the funding and shut them down in small towns and innercity neighborhoods.
wow i agree with you
Oh yeah, let's completely wipe out the budgets of the public education system altogether, while we are at it. Cutting budgets for libraries is quite akin to that.
And this governor is supposed to be pro-education! Our libraries here also serve as Job Search stations.
Pro-education, by, let me guess, fully backing the Every Child Left Behind law???
He's more a Democrat when it's convient, I think. He was the lesser of two evils in our last election. The other guy was Ken Blackwell - the guy who threw the Ohio votes away in the 2004 election.
Ahhh, gotcha!
We were discussing this with our local Librarian the other day, and we live in a tiny little burg..I shudder to think how they will cut our budget any further...
Some folks went to the Statehouse last week to protest. One of my friends who is a library employee was there and said Strickland came out and told them they were misunderstanding the cuts totally and dismissed them.
I guess he doesn't understand when you cut funds to libraries, you cut funds for services, jobs, and education.
And all we can say is, "Thank goodness he ain't Ken Blackwell."
Can I get an AMEN. Sistah!!!!
AMEN, AWOMEN, and A-ANYTHING IN BETWEEN.
Funny poster but sad f***ing reality~ =(
