And here I thought they were tights. They make your voice two notes higher. I'm told this is the way rich people used to dress--I wouldn't know.
I understand that Elizabeth I insisted that ALL the gentle hommes in her court wear tights such as these--what a lusty lass she was!

they do look like tights to me...and rather tight ones at that
They DID wear tights (of a sort) in the 16th century, but they didn't have much in the way of elastic, so I suppose technically you'd have to call them tight-fitting leggings (with fleas)
