What a magnificent image, Mariana. The woman portrayed her is beautiful in a mysterious, intoxicating way. She reminds me of one of the gorgeous sylphs often painted by the great Cordoban painter Julio Romero De Torres back in the first part of the century here in Andalucía. I am smitten. Conquered. Blown away.

Bless your heart, Julie - et al...actually, there's a long story behind this - as there is with everything in this house - I am the keeper of the flames - and this old half-penny post card landed on my lap as I was going through some shelves - after evacuating from two hurricanes and a fire this year, I decided to get organized -
out fell this half penny Gems of Art Series Post card from May 1906.
It was a gift from mama who love her hibiscus she grew in her front yard - she called them Hot Biscuits. Anyway, a gift - but in a round about way...
The address on the back reads:

Narberth
(which is in Pembrokeshire Wales)
I once lived in Lamphey and Pembroke.
The card says Egyptian Beauty and the artist is Spiegel

In this serendipitous gift - the image does in a way resemble the exotic me and the type of jewelry and dress I would wear - I have a gold snake bracelet for my upper arm and a necklace similar to this - I often wear dresses like this - and huge loops, flowers in my hair - so, it just seemed appropo for a new icon - as the Phoenix is Rising and it's just right where I am - now...Thank you all so very much. I was unaware that it made it to a photo place - I thought is was in the Icon archives! Much appreciation. Salud

Also, my high school nickname was Cleo. I found an advertisement for New Dawn hair coloring and thought my 8th grade self would look good with midnight black hair - lol...so I spent a quarter and ordered the sample - yikes! Well, I cut my long hair off into a cleopatra cut and the name stayed - (the hair changed hundreds of times over the last 49 years!) Salud

Cool new icon

I've been meaning to comment on this new icon for a couple of days--it is exquisite Mariana!! And now to read the story behind it, even more so ;-) It is SO you ;-)

It says on my bag of oat meal that 1/3 cup is one serving. When you add 2/3 cups of water and cook it, it's too much. Now I'm using a half of a third and a full third of water and with my banana and milk or yogurt it's just enough.

I just eat plain oatmeal with raisens - it's ok - less calories too - I guess not as flavorful! Salud
