Gideon's "Dallion" that he made in school. He tells me this is the bottom of his shoe - they stepped on them to give them the design of their shoes. :)

Congratulations, Gideon! Your art pottery "Dallion" is now featured at Gather's artful.gather.com on the group Art Review, Commentary and Discussion. Please share its dimensions with us. An excellent example of both purposeful "found" art and ephemera, "Dallion", Gideon's design, is based on the use of his own shoe print and thus artful mark-making ensues through the use of his medium (pottery) and the artistic capture of a transient place and time suspended in the piece by the leaving of marks, intimating a boy's passage through life and its fragile, yet strong, imprint on the world. Beautiful!

I would never have guessed it, either. He had to tell me that's what it was, then I saw the imprint and how it fit with his shoe.
