My son went over Christmas break when he was here. Great buys. I remember a couple of years ago when you first stated telling us about your trips. Not only was the food much less than at the supermarket, but the produce was much, much better. The fish was a huge amount for almost nothing, and was frozen.

I plan to go during the warm months. A lot. Those warm months are here. Compared to the last 3 months.

I eat mostly citrus, fresh fruits, salads and home-made vegetable soups and fish. 20 bucks at Haymarket will go a lot farther than at Shaw/Star/Stop and Shop.

deals - now that is a great thing. My son went late in the day when the fish was exceptionally cheap.

The lemons were so tasty. The fish - did he say 2 bucks a pound for swordfish? Not sure. But in that ball park.

Haymarket isn't a farmers market, actually. The vendors go to Chelsea produce market and pick up the produce that the supermarkets won't take -- pears a little too small, cantalope that need to be eaten within a few days,... So although some of the produce is local, it's not from the farmers. You'd never get farmers market prices this cheap, unfortunately!
