Macro Mushrooms so tiny and the last thing I expected to see on a cold 33* December day it had already snowed here once and several small ice storms the week before. Photographed Dec 17, 2008. Who would have though you could find mushrooms like this in the winter. photo also contains, algae, lichens, and moss!

Katherine Im not sure these are growing on several live trees beside my sons Dr.s office .
I do know that lichen lives off of algae so the algae is what has it there. Maybe the same concept with the other stuff. I think the algae started from where they use to keep the area extremely mulched and so it stayed damp all the time. But again that is a guess because it hasn't been mulched in ages so you'd think it would all die out
