The vibrant colours and vertical lines of the towels are enhanced by the austere background.

The beach towels cry "fun!" while the leather says "kinky". A marvelous juxtaposition.

I would never suggest that the Knauer oeuvre is derivitive, but see her contribution to a tradition of post-simulationist art.

The mystery of duality lurks behind the deceptive simplicity of this masterpiece. Is that one towel, folded around itself, bravely defying the darkness with its vibrant stripes? Or is it a pair of towels, outshining despair through the combined force of their togetherness?
