it is pretty fun. Not a big thrill, but just a cool little ride to be enjoyed by kids and adults alike. Not to be found in the US as far as I know...I doubt insurance would cover it.

Looks like fun!

I used to ignore everyone who made fun of me and ride the big swings - think they were at Kings Island in Ohio. They weren't as cool as this one looks, but offered a cool, relaxing ride.

I'll try to post another picture or two of these swings later to give a better idea of what they do. If I'm remembering correctly, you get in the swing, press a button (there were several "self-operated" rides at this park--stuff you'd never see in the US), are raised up, and then zip across an elevated wire over a small river or stream. There are two of them side by side.

No one's made fun of me yet, but teenage girls do look at me a bit weird, as though pondering the chances of themselves turning into crazy old women that still ride swings and go down slides and do other unoldwomanlike stuff at some point.

I'm trying to remember if for this particular ride you had to have somebody else push the button for you. So perhaps not quite "self-operated". Still, for most of the rides at this park (in Bottrop, Germany, by the way) there were no operators or apparent supervision of any kind.

I think it was similar to the same ride at BonBon Land in Denmark (home of the Hunderprutterutchebane, or Dog Fart Roller Coaster)--you strapped yourself in and the person behind you or a friend pressed the button to activate it.

Dave, that looks like hella fun! Like a cross between a swingset & a zip line.

I have often embarrassed my friends by riding swing rides. And swingsets. I still have the occasional dream where swinging turns into flying. Anything that involves swinging or gliding - not to mention both - has my vote.

Hmm... how can I convince Mr. Mac to go to Germany? I guess there's always the beer.
