Krona: Dragons of Nistala --paragraph break--- Just received notice from my publisher, Twilight Times Books, that my next installment in the Dragons of Nistala series, is due out in bookstores this July or August. In the next few weeks, I will be uploading to Gather a short, three minute video - a reading from the book from my home. This series began a couple of years ago, with the award-winning "Dragon's Moon," mostly for the young adult crowd. Krona and the ones to follow is highly suitable for young adults, but I've aimed it also for the adult market. Krona is trwice as long as Dragon's moon, and far more complex. Some of the good dragons in that first book turn bad in Krona. --paragraph break-- The series culminates with the book I currently am writing. In that one, four romantically-involved Harvard graduate students meet the dragons -- who have awoken from a deep hibernation under a glacier since the last ice age due to global warming. The fantasy series integrates the Druid/Mayan/Chinese/Hymalayan-Vedic mythologies of dragons. That book, with the working title, "Embers," takes us some ten years into the future, where all the social and environmental issues we now are on the threshold of, climaxes with a war between China and America, just as several environmental cataclysms also come to a head. --paragraph break-- The final, dramatically stellar scene in Krona foreshadows this final book. Will humanity survive? I haven't yet made up my mind. --paragraph break--- These dragons have archetypally (sic) been behind the scenes, either helping along or monkey-wrenching the evolution of the human species since 65 million years ago, when the first mammals began to truly evolve and these dragons supposedly went extinct. These ones didn't, of course. Some of them, as with archangels, are there in the service of humanity's quest for wisdom. Others, as with arch-devils, are there to seek humanity's ultimate destruction into hell; misery likes company. ---paragraph break--- Krona -- a high tale of transcendental love, matriarchy Vs. patriarchy, and the Armageddon of the extinction event of 65 million years ago -- was sent by the publisher to an Australian critique/editing service, and they assessed the raw manuscript as one of the most well-written, imaginative books assessed in a long time; a sure award winner. --paragraph break -- Krona, and the books to follow, also poetically - nothing didactic here - pores deep into quantum relativity, continental drift, Jungian theory, and parallels many of the world's dragon myths, from native Americana (Mayan), China, Druid/Merlin ... and the journey of the soul etc.
