again an article that I published as a jpeg image. It relates to the photo of a door knocker I made in Venice. I like to discover things and try to interprete their essencial significance. I do not like either to pass by totaly unaware or accept the mystifications of contemporary churches and social convenience. It is of course also a symbol of Fire and Water! As well as meaning the two different tones of the musical note of SOL!

Yes, we go back through Hermes Trismegistus to the material on Isis and Osiris, but also the sun God Ra and his polar opposite. What´s interesting is how this polytheistic lore is confabulated in the Hellenistic period, then crunched down and freeze dried into esoteric symbols during the Christian period (as if for safekeeping) only to be reasserted during the Renaissance when the Doges wanted the world to see their mercantile globalizing sophistication by once again restoring the ancient Graeco-Roman symbols (originally Nilotic) to an esteemed emblematic place in the Venetian Republic.
Great article, Alkistis, I had to take out my Magick In Theory and Practice by Crowley to find some correspondences that you thread together effortlessly, showing me that you are an erotic sorceress (or sex magickal mage in the theoretical sense) of the first rank, as well as an erudite artist!

Dear John! And you, brought here in such a compensate comment history of our civilisation of few thousand years. These things are going all together. And as mch as i like symbols, because I like to decipher them I like also to go out of this strictly compensed ... I read Crowley because I was searching for the meaning f the Serpent and the Lion. But yes, I have never been a dry scholar - if one does not take it all in its all there is waste of life ...
