Common gray treefrog (hyla versicolor) hanging out on the edge of a water bucket -- looks like this little guy is in the middle of shedding his skin!

thank you Amy! I was lucky to see this little fellow -- I was on my way to work, heading to the car and just happened to glance at the bucket and noticed a strange lump on the edge of the bucket -- it was just barely light so I had to get up close to him to see that it was a frog. And then, of course, had to run back into the house to grab the camera so I could share him with everyone!

thank you all for your comments! I love frogs and after I took the picture, decided to move him from the bucket rim. I was afraid he'd get in the water and then would be trapped. I was amazed at how soft his skin was at the time but didn't realize until I looked at the picture that he was shedding...he was a sweet little guy.

How did you find out what kind of tree frog this one was?
In front of my condo we have shrubs that are, at times, a tree frog hotel for a portion of the chorus located in a nearby retention pond.

Deborah, I identified the frog with a book I got years ago -- it's The Audubon Society Nature Guides Eastern Forests. I like this guide a lot because it identifies trees, wildflowers, birds, mammels, insects, reptiles and amphibians all in one book. Obviously it doesn't have everything in it; just the most common species within each category.

Little tree frog on Angela's arm. This little guy was a hitchhiker on my neighbor's boat. Angela felt she had to "rescue" him and take him down to our creek.

Frog found in the neighbor's pool. Angela pulled him out and let him go out by the creek. It's been hanging around the pool awhile, because the chlorine has bleached out it's skin.
