janesville wi,garden,rotary gardens
The city of Janesville WI has the most lovely garden- it is 15 acres that makes the claim of being 'an internationaly themed botanic garden dedicated to international peace and friendship'. When I first moved into this town 11 years ago, I had just moved out of a beautiful home with a nicely landscaped backyard and flower and herb gardens that I had spent several years creating. The darling little bunglalow that I had purchased after my kids had all moved out of the house was the perfect size for me, and although the foundation of the house had been profesionally landscaped, besides a few hostas, there were just a few shrubs and very little lawn. I hired a neighbor kid to mow, and my gardening chores were done. And OH how my green thumb ached. I soon discovered this lovely garden just a few blocks from my new home, and they were asking for volunteers to help plant and pull weeds, and I quickly came to feel right at home in this beautiful space. This garden has helped fill my soul in so many ways. This photograph is me and my dear friend BillyBob, walking across the garden bridge.......

This reminds me of the story of the blue willow where the two people escape across the bridge to the island to avoid being separated.

I love everything about this photo. To look at the icon it reminds me of notes on a sheet of music. I love the way the lines of the bridge flow across the page, I love the shadows, silhouettes and lights. Perfect picture.

Melinda, this is an amazingly beautiful picture, and it makes the perfect icon. I always thought this was a painting, though, because of the lighting and the way it is shaded.
