Martha- We are researching payments in other countries. Each has different laws regarding payments, taxes, notifications, and employment/independent contractor status. We want to enter new markets responsibly, avoiding liability for us and the members that we pay there.

This tool helps us identify where the most Gatherers outside the United States are Gathering. We can now more effectively prioritize our work, country-by-country, to faciliate payments.

Trust me, we want to encourage Gather member contribution as much as members want to receive it. We're just a small team and need to do things step-by-step. Thanks for your patience in the meantime.

This is truly impressive! We can get a sense of the network here by paying attention to the members' info below their icons, but the graphic presentation is much more dramatic. Thanks, Tom!

John, we use a variety of tools to do traffic analysis. This particular chart is from Google Analytics (analytics.google.com). It's not a plotting tool, but rather something that does anonymous traffic reporting for websites. It's free to smaller sites, but does require a little bit of work to implement.

I love maps! The empty spaces in the west most likely reflect population density rather than nonparticipation in the gather world.

I should have mentioned that this map shows just the top 500 locations where Gatherers are coming from (of 22,651 uniquely tracked). To show on this map, a location needed just about 100 people at a minimum. I will see if I can find a way to drill-down further (but Montana is in there somewhere, David!)

Ah Mr. Turner (aka Lupe), my mother cannot be bought for 30 Gather points (heavy symbolism in that number, eh?). That said, she's pretty likely to start posting those stories for free if I don't show-up for the holidays.
