On Nov. 7, 1917, Russia's Bolshevik Revolution took place as forces led by Vladimir Ilyich Lenin overthrew the provisional government of Alexander Kerensky. Horoshiy Krasniy Oktyabr! Хороший Красный октябрь!

Leah, I never thought about that before. I had better research that and find out why Nov 7 is election day.
I have so much to learn! Never ending task! Thank goodness for Gather!

It is because we choose to look PAST the evils of the communist regime that we are so fascinated with Russian culture.
Should I not be interested in German culture because of what the Nazis did? I don't think so!!! We're certainly not supporters of Joseph Stalin or Adolph Hitler.
It is when people only look at the dictators and evils, that beauty and culture are lost.
Look at women like Gather's very own Svetlana Goryacheva sgoryacheva.gather.com and you will see what I mean about the beauty of Russian culture.
