Thanks to all of you. Cats know a sucker when they see one. They just keep coming, even out here in Coyoteland where the nearest house is over a half mile away. My dog Smoky treed a beautiful laid-back yellow and white tabby. I adopted him and a few months later he is chasing Smoky. That made 13. There is a gray tiger cat lurking outside every night that I put food and water out for. I don't think I can tame him enough to include him this Peaceable Kingdom.

Spider Woman - I live at a horse camp on an Indian Reservation at the pleasure of the tribal elders, as I am not an Indian. If they decide only horse campers can stay here, I will get a horse from the BLM or Humane Society.
It is a wonderful environment for my cats and dogs. The dogs tolerate the cats because if they don't, I will growl at them. I can't teach them to talk people talk but I am getting good at Dog and Cat. The presence of dogs keeps the coyotes at bay.

Must be expensive but well worth it, cats tame or not can be great company even 13 . We had 9 before we moved here now we can't have any my husband and I really miss them so we look at their pictures constantly. But it sure isn't the same so your very lucky Ruth, and you are wonderful.

There were four more cats in this walk-about but they were busy climbing oak trees and sniffing down gopher holes. I just can't persuade them to line up to get their pictures taken!

I made a comment above more than a year ago that I had little hope of taming that tiger cat lurking in the trees. I kept putting food out for him, and he finally let me touch him, and now he is a full fledged member of the family. He tries to sit in my lap every time I sit down. I haven't had him neutered yet, but he gets along very well with my nine neutered male cats, and three timid females. He is a great cat that seems to understand very well how to live in a peaceable kingdom. I love him.
