Hi KD ,
It was a great party and we had about 22 people. 7 played and sang. Guitar, piano, violin and tambourine. And, at the end we all sang with a guitar playing The Answer Is "Blowin' In The Wind" . I know you would have love to be there!.
Well, .....I'll invite you the next time again!

Thank you! It's very special to me. It does have a bellmetal Lloyd. I just crawled out from the top of it, trying to inspect it further and see what the writing is. I wasn't able to get a good glimpse and I'll have to wait for the tunner and then get the scoop!

Your piano looks like the upright Baldwin we had at home on the farm. Mother took lessons from Little Jack Little and practiced when my father was outside working so he wouldn't find out. She traded eggs and cottage cheese for the lessons. Eventually Daddy traded bottles of milk for lessons for my sister and me.

The container of pencils on the left side make me wonder if you compose music too.

Ruth, I'm glad this picture brought back warm memories for you. I hope you still play! I played as a kid with my Mother being the neighborhood piano teacher. I quit when I was 16 and started lessons again as an adult a few years ago. I do some composing but more transcription from one key to another and of course I'm always marking music! I'm glad you enjoyed the picture!

Hey, KD, love the piano - I had to sell my Mason & Hamlin grand in 1996 when we moved onto a sailboat, then when we came back to "the real world" a co-worker gave me an old upright similar to yours. It filled the bill for a couple of years until I saved up enough to buy a Clavinova. I used to teach piano & flute but now just play the Clavinova for my own enjoyment.

Dorothy, thanks for your comments! I'm sorry that you had to sell your piano but I do understand why and am glad that you now have a new one. Play on!

This is the piano that my Mother first taught me to play on. It also was the one that she had for the better part of her life.

KD, some of these old pianos have the best sound, don't they? My dad is the one who started teaching me (I was only 3, and he used flashcards to teach me the notes), then my grandmother took over. Playing piano is the best therapy there is. :-)

Debra, it is a great piece of nostalgia isn't it? I always thought that if the piano could talk, the stories it could tell! I know it's been in Pennsylvania, New York, Washington, DC, New Jersey, and back to Pennsylvania in several locations!

This piano looks a lot like one we had when we were kids, except the one we had was also a player piano that you could put rolls in that somehow caught they keys as thr rolls spun and the music came out. Of course you could still play the piano, and I taught myself over the years how to read music and could actually play a coupel of tunes. South of the Border, lol, that comes to mind.

No K.D., gave this piano to my brother-in-law who wanted to make up a band, taught him the chords he knew, he already played the guitar, and he went on to have a great band, got himself a keyboard, and they, him on keyboard, a bass fiddle and guitar and drums, played at two of my kids weddings and many other nite spots around town. We couldn't keep moving, costs lots of money, they are heavy, but enjoyed it until I was well into my thirties.

I came by to play you a "thank you for your comments" song,
but no way to have you hear it, so just imagine that I'm
playing you an original "thank you for your comments" song
on the piano.

Kathy, this is the piano I learned to play on as a kid. It now belongs to me. I'm glad that I have it!

Hi K.D, thanks for your comments on Gloira, She is just starting to settle in , I was there this afternoon, met with the social worker, unfortunately Gloira also can't hear well and she is intimidated by almost everyone, should never be in a place like that, her wosrt nightmare, as her mother ended up in one too, but she had been very heavy over 400 lbs, the reason they couldn't take her to this place in the beginning when she could still walk, just needed rehab, but they actually injured her there, and I am hoping against hope that she will get that surgery or they can build up her upper body so that she may be able to use a crutch, although her knee is so displaced, just sitting in a wheel chair hurts her, so I don't know, but thanks for everything KD, take care, I am doing what I can for her, keeping me busy, but I guess that is why I am still around, somebody needs me,

Aww Elsie, what a rough time your friend is having. You must be her guardian angel now.
