Really appreciate you taking the time to respond at length. I must admit I am still a bit confused :-) Why would paying people outside the US through PayPal mean that Gather would need to change it's payment systems? I frequently receive payments through PayPal in US Dollars and PayPal in the UK shows them as both a dollar balance and a sterling balance.

I guess if you have a revenue sharing model which allocates $X amount to members and less than half the members are eligible for it, then increasing the number of people who are eligible to participate would reduce the amount available to those who currently receive it.

It's just a real shame that those who make up more than half the users (according to alexa) are unable to participate.

Hi - be interesting to know which laws stop Gather from paying their members which don't stop sites such as Squidoo paying their members.

If there is a law which discriminates against anyone outside the US (the majority by percentage of users ccording to alexa.com) it's a bit of a daft law. :-)

However, the fact that you have used a public area to question me gives me the opportunity to let you know that I am a well-established, well-read, and so I am told well-regarded blogger. Gather take posts directly from a number of my blogs which I am sure gives you an indication of the regard they have for my content.

All the content on my blogs and posted here at Gather is owned by me and I write on a range of topics and for a variety of audiences both culturally and with regard to subject matter! To suggest that I would steal content is patently absurd and whilst others might engage in such practices I can assure you that I do not.

I did feel some initial resentment at the implication in your question however I appreciate that you may know some who might engage in those sort of practices.

Thanks for your brief comment and for giving me the opportunity to correct the misunderstanding that many people appear to have about this important issue.

The High Court in London ruled on 30th September 2008 that the treatment of the specific individuals was illegal in terms of the right to live in the UK if they retired before 1997.

However, the law remains unchanged and there is no legal right for Gurkhas who have fought for Britain to settle in Britain when they retire. This is a complete and utter travesty given that we extend this right to many others who have no done what the Gurkhas have done for our country and the campaign is to allow all Gurkhas the right to settle in the country which they have served so faithfully when they retire.

Thanks for giving me the opportunity to correct your misunderstanding.

Gwen glad it has helped. The challenge gets easier I promise! The requirement to label products more clearly now here is a big step forward in avoiding hidden gluten.
