Ambien didn't work so hot for me. It's hyper addictive, for starters. The first night I took it, I fell asleep within 15 minutes of taking it, and within 5 minutes of taking it, I was babbling incoherently about giant teddy bears. I also apparently woke Nick up in the middle of the night trying to shove him out of bed to make room for the orchestra.

By night 2, it took almost 30 minutes to kick in, with less of the hallucinations. By night 3, it took almost an hour. Night 4 took me almost 2 hours to fall asleep. On night 5, when I considered taking 2 pills instead of 1, I realized that my body, which is hyper sensitive to meds to begin with, had already become adjusted & on it's way to addicted to the meds. I didn't take any on night 5, or after that. To me, it wasn't worth it.

Ambein is not meant for long term use. It was meant for short term use only.

What I do now is take 1 tylenol PM. A regular OTC sleeping pill is too much for my hyper-sensitive body (There is a LONG list of medications I can't take because they leave me so out of it for days). Tylenol PM contains half a dose of a regular sleeping pill. It's just enough to knock me out, if I take it early enough, without any side effects.

Our shopping is pretty much done. I want to try and find a few small things for the kids yet, though. For all of our extended family & friends, I am doing homemade gifts this year.

Thank you so much! That one is one I wrote up 3 or 4 years ago for the first time, but I try to make sure to repost it every year. More than ever, people are looking to downsize their holiday spending. There are so many creative ways to do it, too!

I'm actually surprised at just how many little tricks I remember from when I was little. My step-mom taught me some sewing, and I had home-ec for two years in middle school. I just didn't think most of it had retained! ;)

When I was playing around, that's just how I sat them, and liked it with the tab/hook/thingy laying against the clip, to help kind of stabalize it, and allow for more of it to be glued to the clip. I want to pick up some miniature tree ornaments at Dollar Tree, and let the kids make some of these on our craft day now.

On my first try, which was a cute soft white button up cardigan, I used a round laundry basket for the shape.

Thank you everyone! While it was easy to make, it wasn't something I would have tackled without some sewing knowledge, because it is a bit tricky. I love the hat, though- and of course, now the girls are both asking for one! Raegan, who hates the color pink, wanted to steal the one I made for myself!

I was a dance teacher at the studio I took dance for, for a year. I was amazed at how many students brought gifts in, and most of the gifts were not small. I got a gorgeous Precious Moment's ballerina from a set of twins. Their dad was my dad's big boss, the owner of the company he works for. I also got a pair of really pretty silver earrings, though my ears weren't pierced.

I don't think it's ever an obligation, but a lot of kids bring in something small. I have heard of schools where the room parent goes around asking for money for 1 large gift from the entire class. I think in that situation, it would be more of an obligation, though.

Usually, I just send in something small & homemade, so we're not out a lot of money. This will likely be Chris's last year, since he'll have 6 teachers next year. Rae also has a lot of teachers, so she won't this year. Gilly just has her 1 teacher, though.

I was debating this earlier this week. I think for Gillian's teacher, we'll make a Dishtowel Angel. For Chris, his teacher is pretty young still. I'm thinking of making her a hat. We did that for Raegan's teacher in 5th grade, and she loved it.

The behavior of that "lady" was horrendous, and uncalled for. I'm usually not confrontational, but I think I'd have been screaming at her.

I actually got picked to do one, too, and can't wait till it arrives! She told me she had very briefly considered getting one for each of the "families", or at least ours, since I take Christmas so seriously, but I let her know I was getting it for free through Gather :)
