emotions while visiting is exactly the impetus for this group - the response is often most easily expressed in poetry - since a precise definition does not exist when dealing with the new and previously unknown place.

You would be surprised at how many business people, including very smart ones, think lots of traffic or a huge number of telephone calls translate into good business. In my business, I don't go after a lot of traffic. I concentrate on getting a closing rate of 75% or higher on the traffic I do get. Once I accomplish that goal, then I will try to increase quantity.

The ironic use of "the man", much like the ironic use of "stupid as a caveman" jokes by Geico, represent a particularly subtle form of defense against minority interests in our society. By sounding "hip", you seemingly express solidarity with subculture, yet the expression is decidedly not in sync. Words like abhorant, disgusting, tasteless signal your beliefs and by implication what you think of these protestations. Do you have any idea what the graffiti said, represented, or expressed? Is it just the fact of writing on property that offends? Do you have a mental picture of the people who are writing on property, and you find this picture repulsive? Tell me what is so nasty here. I don't see it much worse than children on a Sunday using colored chalks to draw flowers on the pavement. I think the disgust comes from your perception of the participants.

Laws work to enhance our freedom only in that they prevent "other" people from inflicting violence or other negative effect actions upon us. But these "other" people are indeed having "freedom" denied them because we as a society have decided certain freedoms are not "good" - for example, we are not free to kill each other. It is in the constitutional "bill of rights" that there are explicit definitions of freedoms that laws cannot infringe upon. So if laws are made in violation they cannot stand in the way of designated freedom. Of course, there is a lot of subjectivity involved in what constitutes those freedoms - but I think there are many people who are not going to sit around like a cows and think they have to obey some law on the books if they think it violates the founding principles of our country as defined by the bill of right. There are many paths to disputing a law, but non-violent, civil disobedience has a long respected history of challenging bad laws AND being seen as an justifiable expression of first amendment rights.

So you are indeed expressing the desire to subjugate our rights to the "law" - against the very founding principles of our country. One of the reasons the bill of rights was created so that we would not be subject to the whims of people angry about the views of others and trying to use the political expediency of "breaking the law" to silence them.

And yes, people should have the right to pick and choose the laws to follow, because we have a civilized court system to decide what are justifiable actions that supersede the law because of constitutional rights. Without this "escape valve", the society we live in would become unbearably constrictive for any but the most obsessive or powerful.
