You hit the nail on the head, Sheryl, but when you think about it there is a system of socialization in place that programs us to be like that. Think about it, religions calls us "sinners" translated "worthless needing redemption" from the getgo/birth. And of course to the government we are just a number, a worker, worth nothing but our labor. The elite of the world have everyone else trained from birth, right down to separating us at birth into pink and blue blankies (blueworkers/pinkbreeders) and then they take your children at an early age and "school" them, just in case you don't do your job according to their agenda. Some are waking, but i agree with what you said in the body of the post, that it will take a mass change in consciousness. It's just a bunch of sleepers doing the dirty work for the elite.

Yes, it is disturbing, Sheryl, because as our "glory" comes crashing down around us and we become a burden, rather than an asset, the debt could very well be called in. Not only that but it can, and probably is, being used as a bargaining chip. Obama didn't show a very good poker face when meeting with the leader of China - he just did not look like a happy camper to me.

In the photo ops Obama is smiling, but in most of the candid shots, his body language is telling.

Wow, there's no loyalty anymore - our children and their children will pay a heavy price for the American betrayal in the manufacturing sector. Giving the work to a socialist nation and then bashing our President for what he sees as a socialist agenda - that's just sick - but it doesnt much surprise me coming out of the right wing.

Wow, this comment says it all. No one really cares about what's happening, and they're willing to just overlook it all, too busy to even ponder it. Who cares if we become a third world country, we'll ride the wave til it crashes.

Funny thing, last time i ate at the chinese buffet, hubby and i both got fortune cookies that demanded: "Learn Chinese", and then there was a word translated instead of a fortune given. It was truly profound. They own our national deficit, folks, on top of owning all the manufacturing jobs.

I don't believe any of it holds much meaning anymore anyway, since it is all so comercialized. Even the solstice has been comercialized with the sale of gems and scents.

Well PJ, if spirit is the force or principle of life that animates the body of living things, then I'd say that if you are breathing, then you are spiritual. Otherwise you just another inanimate object, right? ;-)

Uh, actually Glome, the Bible quote says: "they" know not what they do, so why are YOU judging me? Actually Jesus himself said "THEY".

As for Christians being persecuted as a collective - the Crusades wasn't exactly following the teachings of Jesus - what about the Salem witch hunts, now that is real Christlike...... well, and there is just so much more in Christian history - ask native americans and many other cultures who have been persecuted by Christians in the past. How about the Inquisition? Christians have pretty much gotten themselves a bad name over the years/decades.

Yes, both, but I don't feel disappoinment, other than with myself for slacking. The artist in any of us should be able to express itself even, or should I say especially, during times of solitude. My hermit archetype is slacking in that respect, and that's what I can't quite figure out just yet. Isn't that what would make cocooning a healing salve?

Yes, it is, though sometimes hard to phathom, when the darkness strikes up close and personal.

You are so sweet, but truth is, I haven't been doing any work lately, mostly cocooning. I could be considered a hermit right now, except for the visits I make to help Nan. I traded my art for games, and I write like a scribe nowadays. But I appreciate friends like you, Karen. I have a couple of other cheerleader friends here at Gather, Tanya and Jan, but it's amazing how more often than not, compassion is hard to find. Everyone gets caught up in the hustle/bustle, I guess.

Yes, I have been to all her websites, reading once again the posts that came from her heart. And Cocooniversity is my favorite. I suppose this is my way of grieiving. I love what she wrote on the title page over there:

"Sometimes a soul coccoons itself in a body which has a life on earth. Memories of the hoops and hills and holes and hymns of experience are the dreams of which new wings are formed and such wings they are, carrying the seeker to the heavenly meadows of the now. Once so sure of all in form, now dissolved in darkness and reforming for emergence into light, and flight."

That sounds just like her too, encouraging you to explore your art side. She once told me that art, well all creative energy really, comes from our inner child. She named her inner child Ruthie, and told me many stories about Ruthie vs Caroline, as though it were a dual personality. It made me realize that I had also named my inner child when I was young and very much aware of my own imagination, and forgotten her when I got older and full of turmoil. So, in a way, she helped me bring my inner child back to life, and I restarted my artwork and writing. And I'm wondering now, if my spirit felt this coming because I have really backed off my writing and art. Caroline called that cacooning.

My gosh, she's so young to be gone. There was so much she wanted to do yet in the way of global awareness. I'm not sure why, but I feel a little irritated by the way some in the spiritual community just brush her passing away so lightheartedly, as though grieving was not even necessary. My heart is heavy, and tears are welling up even now.

Karen, I will keep in touch, thanks for listening to me.

The weird thing is that I thought I had become numb to loss, having suffered so much of it, guess not. In her response to me on that last post she wrote, she warned me that a friend, actually former student, had told her of her death and her response was Yeehaw, yeehaw. Reading it again now, I realize that I was not very accepting of the warning, and thinking now, how did I not hear the depth of the exchange? And somewhere in the far reaches I can hear her calling me Grasshopper, though she'd never have said that to my face in this earthly life as she saw us as co-equals - but I always saw her just like your poem here, and like your Mama Ewe - leading me in the right direction.

Not many people know this, just a few Gather oldtimers, but back in 2006 when I first met her, we stood on opposite sides of the fence. I ranted, she cooed. I was here for politics, she was here for global consciousness. Political debates can get heated, but she never did, she found patience for me, just like mama ewe nurturing the herd. Eventually I awakened. That's just one of those things you know in spirit when someone is sent to connect with your path, and reroute you. There is no way to express how important Caroline is to me, and will always be. It's a sacred contract, I believe.
