Hi there - my mother Sarina sent me this (as she mentioned above) and I read it and got misty (but I didn't cry). I'm at the point in my own grieving for my father's death where I've moved forward with my life and am accepting of it. Without faith, and hope, where would we be during these times? I miss my father a lot, and am still to the point where a song can make me cry, or even a poem. I know there is nothing I can do to change the past or bring him back, so I just live my life and hope that things will get better...I'm taking things one day at a time.

I've been hankering for some shopping, and getting my hair done. I also want to go out dancing once I've been dressed up. How about a shopping-mini-makeover, hit the town night?

Excellent choice. I'd say that song is up there for me. But I love a fan of John Lennon's, who I would like to imagine is playing in that heavenly band with all of the Beatles past...Elliott Smith speaks so much to my life's feelings, and touches the innermost spots of my soul. The songs by him that I really feel speak to me are: Pictures of Me, and Go By. But almost every song he has written really resonates well with my soul.

Blessed Be - Happy New Year! Thanks for the lovely article and the link to the ebook. I would love to read it and get back in touch with my pagan roots.

I'm glad there are plenty of pagans and witches, etc, here on Gather. I have met others on various social networks on the internet, but I've also encountered naysayers - who have tried to bring me misery. They wanted to scare me into conversion! And I said, "back off, please. Don't condemn me...don't send me negative energy...."

Nice to "meet you", or rather, Merry Meet sister!

Yeah - I think this article is great! You bring up a lot of good points and hopefully get people to think about this situation. I didn't know much about it until I read your article, so thank you for helping me become familiar with this story. Racism is not dead in the US - it is still rampant. The justice system is not always fair either.

I have seen people I know and love go through the court system based on charges they were not guilty of. They were burned at the stake by the media, when they insisted on their innocence the entire time. The police and neighbors had it out for these people I am talking about - and now, the "criminal" accused in the case is on house arrest, wearing a GPS ankle bracelet. Stuck in the neighborhood that got him in trouble - forced to be on his best behavior while awaiting vindication. I believe in his innocence and I am willing to fight for him until I see him come home free of these charges forever.

Sorry, I went off on a rant, but I've had very little outlet to discuss this with anyone. So here I am, discussing it and relating it to another, pretty different situation, but similar in small ways.

Hate speech, in whose eyes? This article is fair and balanced - it just states the facts doesn't it? I could get bashed for comments like this, and this article has the potential to inflame, right?

Wow, that is major crap. Maybe the responses you got were worthy of being flagged? Has anybody given you an answer or a reason?

I have yet to read this article but I think it sounds interesting. Remember, controversy can equal more exposure. If it is good, your work will speak for itself, flag or no flag!

Tip #1: The Unholy Power of Typographical Anomalies
You've just signed onto your favorite political discussion website and discovered an article or comment expressing an opinion that is the exact opposite (i.e. wrong) of what you believe. Not only that, but you've noticed a fatal flaw in the author's logic which you intend to exploit with extreme prejudice. Before posting your rebuttal, it is imperative that you scan your text for typos. I cannot stress this enough. If your reply contains a typo, once your opponent acknowledges the gaff your argument will be completely and fully negated. It's a commonly known fact amongst online debaters that typos have the power to invalidate even the best thought out ideas. It's long been rumored that the patent for the car that runs on water was denied for improperly using 'their' instead of 'there' on the application form.

Wow, I'm so happy that people can be so nice, intelligent, and supportive. I've heard the negative voices lately, in real life, and online life, and sometimes I feel disheartened but other times I feel affirmed and fierce and capable of conquering the world - in whatever body or state of mind I may happen to be in. It sucks when people abhorr you or think of you as disgusting when they don't know who you are in the least bit....

Online life, is like real life...and intersects with and in a sense is a big PART of your real life because it is a part of your consciousness. That is pretty mind-blowing to me! A whole new world, and whole new possibilities exist because of the internet. There will always be people who disagree, but those voices can be necessary for your growth at the same time. Experiences such as reading sheer ignorance being expressed on a message board, discussion forum, or blog, can really make you feel bad if you take it all too seriously. The same thing happens in real life. It is crucial to build a positive self-image or you will crumble under the REALLY HEAVY STUFF: that stuff being life.

I want to respond to each and every one of these comments, but I fear it will wake my family up too early and it will take me till seven am this morning. Why am I an insomniac? I can't help it, but I hate it.
