Indeed, that was the case. The aftermath depicted in her tale wasn't given as much attention because of the horror of the deaths and destruction. It makes me wonder how many others carry with them to this day the psychic scars of that day. Glad you took the time to comment.

Then an entrepreneur comes along who looks the cows over and thinks to himself, let me see now there are two other things I know about cows. They make milk and they reproduce. I can sell the milk and by multiplying the animals my milk production will keep expanding. It will become like an annuity paying compounded interest. Call the Federal Reserve back and tell them what they can do with their bailout.

"An art to travel" Interesting. What I take from that is that every vacation every trip, whether business or pleasure has the potential to be sculptured into something of our own creation, whether for good or ill, for self enhancement or self diminution.

Rum drinks on the deck overlooking the Bay sounds pretty good right now as I gaze out into a woodland encased in ice.

I sure hope you're right. During our conversation she was so annoyed with the situation that she couldn't see the other sides of the matter. That probably was influenced by her anxiety about having to contend with all the changes necessary. Once she has gone through that she may be able to reconsider with less emotional overlay.

Sounds like you know her better and in more situations than most of us. The underlying message in my comment was that her performance before TV camera's was unlikely to be the true and full measure of the person. Just as one example, I remember clearly her demeanor in front of the camera's the night she endorsed Barack Obama. That was a very different person. She is a published author and an attorney. She has a demonstrable history of success in supporting and obtaining funding for various civic causes. It is too easy to jump to conclusions from limited information. That is why I wanted to know more about her. I ask you to consider:
How accurate would it be if readers were to judge who and what you are by relying only on your comment above?

"The smart people left Wall Street and the investment banks some years ago" That may help explain why so few people anticipated this crisis. The big name institutional stars didn't have a clue whereas those hedge fund investors who did, kept their lips sealed and hoped to profit, besides the media provided an open mike primarily to the celebrity CEOs and company spokespeople.

No doubt about that. Land plus patience has worked well in the past. It will again sometime in the future.

Incidentally, the Amero (the equivelent of the Euro for US, Canada and Mexico)
looks less appealing now that the Euro is contributing to the economic consternation in Europe. Each country loses it's ability to respond to local conditions and local conditions vary.

I cannot disagree with your argument. My feeling is that I really do not know enough about Caroline at this time to judge her total qualifications. If, in the future, she were to run for office we would get a chance to learn much more about her.

That is why I choose to give her the benefit of the doubt. Besides being from the Kennedy clan she is accomplished in her own right. That makes me want to know more.

I can't disagree with your assessment of his undeniable talent with the spoken word. Not all his speeches are delivered in the same way. That is not to say they aren't done very well. For example: sometimes his delivery is like that of a college professor, sometimes his words resonates like those of a minister, sometimes he assumes the verbal cloak of somber seriousness when dealing with a crises. That was my impression tuesday. His presentation was serious and somber whereas the audience was emotionally jubilant.

Best wishes in sunny Jamaica from frigid Connecticut!
