I have three beautiful black shepherds who will tell you that they have been very very good! Yes, they chased the squirrels and bunnies... but they didn't catch any. And yes, they did happen to clean up some food that was left out on the counter, but that was just being helpful. Yes, very very good pups! :)

I too prefer the second opening. It's more intense, and grips the reader with the need to discover more immediately.

A few years back, I thought Lori Petty would make a good Lessa. And whomever played either the Masterharper, Menolly, or Sebel would need to be able to sing too! I'd love to see some unknowns given a shot too in a work like this.

Good piece of writing! There is a wonderful book called Vampires: in their own words that is invaluable to anyone interested in the topic, and we could probably go on at some length here about it too! There are those, sanguinaries, who absorb energy through the drinking of blood too. Which, is quite different from the vampire of folklore. I've met a great many who, knowing or unknowing, feed off the emotional energy of others... anger, fear, pain, happiness, etc. and even more who sustain their own flagging energies by sipping off the ambient energy of a crowd... concerts are a great collecting place for such people. Some even sip off the natural energy of Nature that is constantly being created around us. I've only seen discussions of that last type plainly spoken of in Asian cultures, but you can find them all over.

I seldom feel drawn to hare off on midnight rambles through woods and fields like I used to... but I still do now and again. The enchantment of such quiet moments is priceless and compelling. Beautiful wordcrafting, my dear!

yes, for this piece, I wanted it to be recognizable as Where the Wild Things Are, but with differences, and there are some subtle changes. Max's feet are more defined, his face a little different, as well as his crown and scepter.. the Wild Thing's colors are off, his face and horns set differently... even the trees are different in that I gave them far more texture and detail than is found in the book... but I will Definitely look into the details of that aspect before I go any further. I would love to do an Alice in Wonderland or Peter Pan blanket, and am quite certain I could work up something beautiful without coming anywhere near Disney's depictions. General themes are much easier... teddy bears, fairies, cowboys, etc. I'd like to examine the finer details of copyright infringement as it pertains to this kind of work though. Honestly, much as I loved doing this one... I would be even happier to be creating unique designs that no one has done before.

Wonderful insight... I often wonder about the differences between then and now. From my observations at this end of the timeline, I think that people in general are simply less able to deal with financial difficulties and the other issues that come along with the package. People seem far less capable, less resourceful, with far less work ethic or adaptability. Thanks so much for sharing your invaluable insight!

The silky bits are almost always the favorite part of a well-loved blankie :-) I had a stuffed dog instead of a blankie, but he had velvety brown ears that I loved to stroke... good practice for petting those real silky dog ears clustered around me today!

Wow, thanks, Lune :-) I was looking at a similar article and making notes. This looks equally useful, Greatly Appreciated! This is something that has been in the back of my mind for quite some time now, but I've been very leery of getting myself into too many projects at once. Right now I'm in the "think about it and gather loooots of info" stage. :-) But I think it's inevitable for me to end up somewhere further down this line.

lol, yeah, that's pretty much what I'm hearing too. I guess I'll just have to ponder a reasonable pricing guide. Complexity of the overall work dictates the time needed, so I think I'm going to end up using that as a main measuring stick... or measuring tape, as the case may be. ;-)
