This is just beautiful. it makes me want to go to Greece more than I ever did and I really want to go. My husband who is of Greek decent want to go so maybe we will this coming year.

We know there is a shortage. What bother me is the "I'm not going to get that shot" syndrome. I had mine two weeks ago. And I'm glad I did.

Some interesting numbers from FluCount.ORG about The H1N1 Virus

End Of Day Summary for Monday, November 16, 2009 (FluCount.org): During the past week, 678 new swine flu deaths have been confirmed around the world (96.9 deaths per day), a modest 3.4% increase over the number of deaths reported the week before. Nine nations reported their first H1N1-related deaths during one of the deadliest weeks yet.

For the third week in a row, The United States reported more deaths than any other nation. With 209 new deaths reported this week - a 16.4% decrease from the number of new deaths last week - H1N1 is still proving deadly in 37 states and Puerto Rico. Six states reported double-digit deaths tolls during the week. California announced 33 additional fatalities, with nearly 300 deaths in total. Additional deaths were reported in: NC (18), WA (15), PA (14), AZ (11), MI (10), FL (9), TX (9), TN (7), MD (6), MN (6), OK (6), AR (5), SC (5), SD (5), CO (4), CT (4), NV (4), AK (3), IN (3), KY (3), ME (3), NM (3), NY (3), OR (3), ID (2), LA (2), MA (2), NJ (2), DE (1), GA (1), IL (1), KS (1), KY (1), VA (1), WA (1), PR (1).

Now that is desolate and HOT. I can't imagine. I experienced salt flats in Oklahoma but not the heat. We sat and dug for crystals. Forgot your coffee!!! How did you servive?

I enjoyed you story and photos and will be back to read the rest.

I start a fire early in the morning only if I'm cold or if I'm going to bake something. I often bake a coffee bread/cake to start off the day - see the next post

I really don't like percolated coffee so this is easy for me and more tasty - I just boil water and pour it over the grounds, push down the press and its done. Often I will use the camp stove to boil the water for speed and ease.

Funny you should mention knees. After this year's Camp Insanity I decided I was not going to give up camping so got to a specialist and am getting my first new knee in a few weeks. The second on later if needed.

My daughter who I call Mother Nature is a naturalist and believes in Chinese medicine and Naturopathic medicine. She has a Medical Doctor for emergencies and tests she can't get through her Homeopathic doctors.

She teaches in a Major University and said when the H1N1 becomes available to her and everyone on her campus she will get it because it's her duty to do what she can to not only protect herself but to protect her students and not spread it to others. She is healthy and young and is not worried about getting the flu but refuses to be the one to spread it.

I'm having surgery in a few weeks and had my shot about 2 weeks ago. Now I can go into a hospital for a few days and not worry about H1N1.

The H1N1 started to decline last week but spiked again so not everyone can get the shot - not just those with high risk .

I'm surprised you don't have Half Way Houses. Here in Canada when people are released from prison and don't have anywhere to go they are put in a Half Way House until they get a job, a place to live and any counseling they need. It is truly more humane than sending them out to be homeless.

That's what you get for feeding them! I see mine in my compost pile all the time looking for seeds and other stuff I might toss out for them - they love it when I make an apple pie!

The only place I saw those guys roaming wild was in Oklahoma on a heritage site. Pretty majestic looking animals. I can''t imagine them dropping by for a bite to eat but I do have deer - not many but its nice to see them when they drop by.

I live in the North East so I can grow anything I want. My perennials are sage, oregano and thyme and ....mint - pushed off into the wilds because its so invasive. Yearly I plant basil, rosemary, parsley. I just go to the local green house and buy what I think will add to the flavors of my husbands cooking.

I buy plants because my sunlight is really limited. We are happy the garlic grows and pleased to have herbs all summer. Rosemary moves in for the winter and usually makes it till spring - but sometimes not. Happily our big grocery stores carry fresh herbs all year - but they are a bit pricey.
