It isn't the first time someone outed a corrupt politician so they could get the job for themselves. It's a great way to get your foot in the door and your hands in the taxpayers billfolds. By starting out being the "hero" fighting against corruption, it throws people off guard and makes it easier to do the same thing as the crooks you took your job from.

Maybe the following link to a topic on myspace will give you some insight as to why this happened. Why they let a rapist out, I mean. It is an attitude thing. It's how most people have trivialized rape. This includes one of our current presidential candidates.

I think one very important issue in this article is that we forgot the oil issues of the 1970's and went right back to gas guzzling. We ignored the need to move ahead with our energy technology. Brazil is completely independent of foreign oil. It upsets me that our truly great nation, with all the advantages we have to excel, cannot say the same.

The one lesson we MUST learn is to not let them drop the prices to a level we can live with and then stop our focus on becoming as advanced as Brazil, energy-wise anyway.

Please tell me that is not really true! That is just plain cold blooded.

I haven't gotten to see any of the proceedings. I have been pretty sick lately and have just been trying to post a few news articles that I thought some people might miss and were important. Thanks for the heads up.

I hope to get to feeling well enough to write up and email a little "I'm so glad to hear you guys will still be able to take a nice relaxing 5 week vacation without your conscience haunting your every thought while the citizens you're supposed to be working for and representing are struggling with gas prices, healthcare, food, losing their homes, supplies/clothes for kids starting school, etc,etc", letter to each of my congressional representatives next week before they go on vacation, again.

Probably, but remember, then it's guaranteed to hit the history books. If you think Bush doesn't care, I would disagree. At this point, he has succeeded at his goals. He has made his family and buds super-rich. He stacked the Supreme Court. He got even for daddy. He has pulled the wealth of the middle class back where it belongs, to the ultra wealthy. etc, etc... Now, he wants to soften the way history perceives him. If he has to pardon Rove and the gang as he leaves office, he will be remembered as the worst president the United States of America has ever had. Period. Ah, justice, how sweet it can be...

Let's not forget, if this is admitted into evidence and not sealed by the court, it becomes part of public record. Which means law enforcement or anyone else can use the information, anyway they see fit. Even if sealed, I'd have my doubts that would keep the Feds out considering the lack of concern currently being shown in Washington for our rights to privacy.
I plan on contacting my senators and reps. Monday. The real danger is now the judicial system seems to be more and more leaning toward the same lack of concern for our rights.
The more public we make issues like this the more likely we are to have an affect on the situation.

There are children going hungry in this country because of the price of oil. People are dying because of the cost of oil. If this has been in any way engineered by anyone in the US government, we need to track them down and have them tried for murder.

I agree with most of what you say. But, to say or do anything that could possibly lead to a Republican remaining in the White House another term is a most horrifying image. We do indeed need a new American political party. But, we do not have a viable 3rd party for this presidential election. To vote for idealism will get you McBush, the return of the oil presidency.

I agree, for more than one reason. Yes, he does still have time to do a lot of damage before he leaves office. I think his whole agenda was to bankrupt the middle class who he and his buddies figured had gotten too big for their britches and had too much money. Re-distribute the wealth of the middle class up to the sickeningly rich is the one thing he's done well while in office. Starting a war with Iran would continue this trend far into the next presidency.
Also, after all the misery and shame he has brought upon this country and our people, it would be a great travesty for history to be at all easy on him or even, shudder, kind. He needs to be remembered in history books as the tyrant he is. Impeachment would do that as well as giving some credibility back to the US as a whole in the view of the worlds peoples.

My guess is GW and the Republi-cons were planning on dumping the blame for all of this, historically, on the next president. Either a democratic president or McCain, who the right-wingers don't like anyway. Problem is, they're getting busted too early and it will, hopefully, back fire on them.
