You should hang out with my sister. She has a knack for spotting silly shit, and invariably always buys it for me. One year for my birthday she bought me a velvet (!) painting of a factory staffed by teddy bears, manufacturing little hearts. Another year she gave me a small copper plaque picturing two enormous mushrooms in a tiny meadow. That same year for Christmas she gave me a bright neon picture of a moose's head.

I think she's trying to give gag gifts, but I actually like them.

I am not sure if it's an alien or not, but I'll err on the safe side and assume an alien is responsible for this "urban mural". But in reality, it was probably just some bored 17-year-old with a spray can and a history text about the student revolts on Tienenman Square.

Hahaha, I'm glad you caught that. I seriously doubt the graffiti has anything to do with the group "Up with People", but my caption did. Only satirically, of course.

It's a reflexive action. Perhaps, if one were to extrapolate, it could be interpreted as a depiction of biting the hand that feeds. Weird indeed. I don't know at all what it's really supposed to mean, but it caught my eye and looked photo-worthy anyway.

I spent the first 49 years of my life lost in a haze of confusion, torn between the religion of my youth and the various ideas that were pitched to me as fact, like string theory and the Navier-Stokes Equations of Fluid Dynamics. I never realized that there was only one source of truth in this world, and it had been preserved since it was first given to Man and recorded in Ayn Rand's Fountainhead.


Once a person comes to understand the truth of Fountainhead, he or she can no longer be shackled by lies like the Navier-Stokes Equations of Fluid Dynamics or any of that other bunk like atomic theory. When you embrace the truth, you will feel a sort of gnashing in the spleen confirming that, yes, the universe was created through Steve Zissou's divine will, and that you are not alone. You will know, like i do, that God is dead precisely because very, very soon, Steve Zissou will return to claim his earthly throne - although not until I go bankrupt and die alone on a Greyhound bus.

You can reject the truth if you like. Steve Zissou isn't sending you to Finland for eternity; you see, Steve Zissou is eternally loving; You are choosing to go to Helsinki for eternity. I think I'll choose to believe the truth and spend a wonderful eternity watching paint dry and discussing French foreign policy with middle-aged Republicans. I hope to see you there.
