R. F. The only part of a goat that has ever sent me "head over heels" was on the top of its head. I grew up on a small ranch, cleaning the goat pen was an adventure in quick movement.

Goat Milker? I have a trophy from Pee Wee Rodeo for Goat Roping. I don't want to marry one I didn't even win the trophy, it was left to me. I do rather enjoy having a goat over for dinner on occasion, but on those occasions the goat is the entree.

I meant to include, there is nothing wrong with polygamy SO LONG AS ALL PARTIES CONSENT.

Marriage, like Life itself, is a day to day deal. For those of the preserve marriage stripe, the issue should not be preventing marriage, but encouraging it, and nurturing it, and maybe outlawing divorce.

Now, if you are represented by EVEN ONE Republican Senator, send that Senator a LETTER asking how he can take pride in representing the Insurance Companies AGAINST the best interests of the American People.

Charles, We should adopt the Italian Model. They have a system that recognizes ONLY secular, marriage. It is necessary to register and affirm your union with another before a government official, and then, if you wanna, and your partner wanna, and the Priest says OK, you may celebrate the sacrament of marriage before a priest in the company of your friends and family. BUT to be LEGALLY MARRIED, you must have the STATE PUT ITS IMPRIMATUR ON THE UNION.

We have the same thing in the USA, but only one ceremony is needed. The priest or pastor may, and frequently does, act as an agent of the state, notarizing the LICENSE of Marriage for the newly wed couple. ChURCHES DO NOT ISSUE MARRIAGE LICENSES, COUNTIES DO.

Marilyn, Under the provisions of the First Amendment the United States Of America is OFFICIALLY NOT A CHRISTIAN NATION. Read that SINGLE SENTENCE that is the first amendment to be attached to our founding document. It forbids the establishment of a state religion. It does not make an exception for Christianity or ANY other religion. You keep insisting on CLAIMING that the USA is a Christian Nation based on the claim that a large majority of Americans are Christians. That claim is subject to question. I defy you to CONCEIVE OF A DEFINITION OF CHRISTIAN THAT ENCOMPASSES EVEN A BARE MAJORITY OF AMERICANS.

GT, reading your comments, it would seem to me that we have near total agreement on human rights, and the individual's right to self expression and personal growth. THEN you go and spoil the joy and brotherhood by saying all that liberty and justice is for HETEROSEXUALS only. What Nonsense. Gays, have the exact same rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness that you and I do.

Why are you and the other opponents so dead set on denying those basic rights to people who freely choose to be homosexual? It does not make a nickles worth of difference how or why a person chooses to practice same sex copulation. YOU get to choose to have it on with only persons of different gender than yourself, but that does not grant you the right to decide or dictate how I CHOOSE TO BEHAVE. So long as we agree that sex should be reserved to couples who provide informed consent before the coupling you and I have no cause to deny any PERSON that option.

You argue that a well ordered society MUST have some religious base, I will agree, and contend that the Secular Humanist philosophy of those who do not believe in a personal god or gods, is perfectly adequate. I would not want to live under Sharia Law, Or Christian law or Judaic Law, and am grateful that in the USA I am not expected to.

RF, how long dit it take us to win this planet back from the Apes after they took over?

Some of the argument on this issue seems to be based on a deep rooted fear. Harry Belefonte explains it in the song Man Piaba, He said, "The woman piaba and the man piaba
and the Ton Ton call baka lemon grass,
The lily root, gully root, belly root uhmm,
And the famous grandy scratch scratch."

It is as clear as mud, but it covers the ground.

AND, TO MARRY ANYONE YOU MUST HAVE MUTUAL, INFORMED, CONSENT. GOATS ARE UNABLE TO GRANT THAT, OR, WE ARE UNABLE TO KNOW WHEN THEY HAVE.

merry Christmas ken, now stop telling me what I will do next. GOATS are incapable of informed consent. Technically, sex with a goat is statutory rape, except goats are not granted ANY constitutional rights. THE issue is the Constitutional guarantee of equal protection under the law.

Heidi, for several months I made regular runs from a steel outfitter in Phoenix to Las Vegas with 60 foot long I beams on a 48 foot trailer, in a specialized rig. Altogether the full length 84 feet. Sixty feet of beam. When I turned onto the dam the ends of the beams were over the walkway on the other side of the road. It took fancy footwork and on occasion patience, to get onto that road safely.

NORA, I will join you in the statement that THE GOVERNMENT MAY NOT CHANGE THE DEFINITION OF MARRIAGE. Marriage, as YOU are defining it, according to the context of your comment, is a SACRAMENT. cloud seeding? Do you know that SOOT from coal fired plants provides the nuclei for raindrops almost as effectively as silver iodide crystals? Are you aware that much of the could seeding you are referencing is a direct result of Industrial activity? Linda. This particular palo verde is on a main street in Phoenix, and it has been heavily pruned since it was planted as urban landscaping. I was going to crop the shot to frame that structure behind the tree on the left, but when I noticed that cross over branch on the right decided to keep the whole thing.

A natural palo verde is a sight. Shaggy is not adequate to describe them.

Thanks Glenna, I am SO happy to be alive that I am going to campaign for some system that provides health care for all. If I had used Medicare, or the insurance I had from work before I retired to pay for this illness, I would be thousands of dollars in debt, and at my age unable to pay the costs. As it is I am a Veteran, and received treatment through the VA medical system.

I will be seeing my Primary care Doctor just after Christmas. I am going to ask about the shoulder and hand pain I am suffering. My Oncologist says the aftermath of Chemo can do that, but I also got treatment -- very aggressive treatment -- for a bladder infection. It is possible that new drug has an unreported side effect. Sharing that information may make a difference. Thanks.

Thanks, Marilyn, A few months ago My youngest daughter started her fight with a cancer, using only radiation for treatment. Her ordeal was a very large part of the decision to write this particular article.
