The 2nd NY district is not known for an abundance of wardens. In fact it seems that almost every council in the distict gives the position of Financial Secretary to the retiring Grand Knight. I'll don't recall the restriction of name plates during the installation ceremony but as I am a FDD, I'll leave that up to the current DD.

As for the officers, all of the major positions with the exception of the Advocate (who is a sitting court judge and could not make the ceremony) were filled. This leaves trustees and if I recall correctly since trustees get a three year term they only need to be installed once.

I have this four sided triangular looking thing that is an open metal frame with lots of O’s on the four metal bars were we can place the cards. (Unfortunately I don’t have a photo of it.)

I think the lesson that should be learned (but not by the narcissist Obama) is that synergy is important. Republicans need support of the “grass roots,” the 912 people and the TEA party people. On the flip side, these grass roots, without the recognition of the “name brand” major political party cannot go it alone. At the national level we saw several people generally respected (until now) as conservative, go out on a limb to support a RINO candidate simply because the word “Republican” was more important than the conservative principles behind the Republican Party. (This RINO when push came to shove embraced the Democrat … but we’ve already seen that in Arlen Specter.)

I don’t know, I think something with boiling oil or melted lead would be more appropriate. (If you know “The Mikado” you will get the reference; that was the Mikado’s on the spot punishment for the execution of his son.)

I would call it more colonial than Solomon. Scarlet letters, standing in the pillory with your crime in front of you were all common form of criminal punishment.

I almost never do this but I deliberately turned off the radio with NPR on my way to work this morning because I didn’t want to get upset because Non New Yorkers have no clue about electoral fusion and how it impacts the elections in New York. In the Riverhead example, the Republicans ran on the Republican and the Conservative lines (B & D). The Democrats ran on the Democratic, Independent and Working Families lines (A, C, & E). It’s interesting given the fact that the two lines (B & D) were practically identical the number of people who did vote for the D line instead of the B line.

They have lots of great aids at the web page and forums to help overcome the writer's block. You can also connect with others in your area doing the same thing, mutual support is another way to keep those words flowing, even if they are just "It was a dark and stormy night ..."

I never text while driving. (Well I rarely text anyway.) Unfortunately I have a bug in my current phone where I can't make a call on my bluetooth when there is a waiting text message. I have to manually open the cellphone and hit the clear key because it is waiting for me to answer if I want to view the message. I need a better cellphone.

His own plan? So all this stuff in the House and Senate doesn’t mean a thing, he will just come up with his own plan that is beloved by children everywhere. I suppose that is the thinking of any proper left wing despot. Too bad there is something called the Constitution, which at least the military are still sworn to uphold and defend, even if congress has long forgotten about it.

I'll definitely post the election results. We also have a special election for the one Conservative who resigned because of family issues. Should that position go Republican we will have 3 Republicans, 1 Independant and the Democratic Supervisor until the end of the year, so the fun would start immediately.

I feel sorry for your loss; it’s not easy being a Red Sox fan. You do know that hate leads to the dark side, and the dark side leads to … well it never leads to the World Series, but knowing the number of World Series that the Red Sox has won that should be obvious to even a casual observer.

As a Yankee fan, I always wonder why you have so much hatred for the Yankees. The Red Sox are a noble opponent to the Yankees, even if they can only win a World Series once in a rare blue moon. Great Red Sox players have had even better careers with the Yankees, like Babe Ruth. Some players who never became Red Sox (Mark Teixeria) have become great Yankees. (Oh wait; did I just explain why you have so much hatred for the Yankees?)

Still I wish the Phillies a lot of luck. Sure it would be nice to win another World Series in the first year of a new stadium. On the other hand having won last year having the Phillies get their third World Series Championship is also something that would be interesting as well.

Still you have to feel sorry for the poor Red Sox; even the Mets can beat you.

The "4th branch of government" is also a clever variation of the "Fourth Estate" The term goes back at least to Thomas Carlyle in the first half of the 19th century. Thomas Macaulay used it in 1828.

Novelist Jeffrey Archer in his work The Fourth Estate made the observation: "In May 1789, Louis XVI summoned to Versailles a full meeting of the 'Estates General'. The First Estate consisted of three hundred clergy. The Second Estate, three hundred nobles. The Third Estate, six hundred commoners. Europe still falls back on the last Sunday in October, so they have already fallen back. I suppose by moving the time we once again show the spirit of American “go it alone” ism. I deal with financial markets from all over the world and if wasn’t for my computer doing all that stuff for me I would be perpetually lost. (As I type this it’s almost 1AM in Beijing and 4 PM in London.) Remember when we used to have places defy the national requirement by changing time zones twice a year? Now that’s revolutionary!

Juan, There are GOP Pundits on Fox News? I really have to start watching Fox News more often then. You mean people who are actively supporting and promoting Chairman Michael Steele? Or are you confusing a political party with a political movement? Don’t worry; the administration does it all the time, just like the underestimate the number of registered Democrats in the Tea Party and 912 movements.

Of course when you are wearing polarized blue colored glasses all you see is … well not much really.

I remember once working at a gaming booth with a non stop loop of Pachelbel's Canon while the booth next to me was displaying a robot war game where you could only hear the thud of gigantic footsteps non stop. Eight hours of the combination of the two was pure torture.
