heh I am a Jimmie Johnson fan, but I actually like a lot of different drivers and while I'm disappointed when Jimmie doesn't win, I still get excited when certain drivers win or do well. I figure there's enough of my love to go around =)

I've never been to Death Valley... tried twice and both times something weird happened to keep me from going... first time I was packed and headed out, stopped for groceries to take along and when I got back in my car, my clutch had gone out! Second time, took a week off work, got all packed and ready, woke up and it was POURING rain. Decided to wait until the next day and it rained for FIVE STRAIGHT DAYS. I figured it wasn't my time to go there! haha

Awesome photo-essay; the photos are beautiful - I love them! I'd love to feature this in the National Parks of the United States Group if you want to post it there!

I just drove through the Smokies once. I'd love to go back and do some exploring, especially after seeing these pictures!

Actually, I was thinking about writing my next article about just that! While I'm a Jimmie fan first and foremost, I actually like both the Busch brothers, as well as a lot of other drivers and I am disappointed in Kurt's opinion. I thought Jimmie said it like it was... he just "thought it was racing" and didn't realize there was a lingering problem. Personally, back in the day, rubbing was racing, right?

But, I guess when you're the one in the situation its got to be so frustrating when racing gets wild and drivers are wrecking and rubbing and everything else. It's human nature to react, so I'm going to try not to be too harsh a critic, but yeah, GET OVER IT!

I have an opportunity to go to a Q&A with Michael next week, but I would have to take time off of work on a day I can't afford to do so... I'm so bummed they are doing it late in the afternoon instead of at lunch like they did on the last Q&A.  I'd like to see him BECAUSE he's so funny, but alas it is not to be.

I agree with EM Jay up there that it was common for youngsters to start out drinking eer in a social setting because thats what kids did when I was there.  But we drank really awful stuff so no, I didn't particularly LIKE the taste then, but I STILL don't like things like Budweiser and Coors and other substandard beers.  I prefer water over any of those.  BUT, give me a GOOD beer and I don't know what is not to like.  Beer comes in many flavors, they do NOT smell the same or taste the same or look the same.  There are some I do not like (NEVER and I mean NEVER taste Romulan Ale, trust me), but there are some that have the perfect bitterness to go with a summer day or the malty chocolate flavor that tastes great with dessert.  I personally go through phases.  I'm currently into the hoppy IPA style beers, but a year ago, I wanted to drink malty brown ales more than anything.  I don't know how people can hate it, but I pretty much feel the same way about the smell of Tequila... nasty stuff.    =)

It's unfortunate when a race gets ended early by the rain, but you can't fight the weather. They tried to do that last year at California and it was an absolute nightmare for those of us who were there. It's a disappointing ending, but we're underway and I'm looking forward to the new season! I'm just crossing my fingers that we don't have an encore next weekend!!!

My Thanksgiving tradition is to do something different every year. I've made Thanksgiving, I've gone to Vegas, I've visited friends, relatives, eaten out,e tc. One of the best? A family vacation to Rosarito, Mexico where we had lobster for Thanksgiving dinner! This year I wanted to go out to a NICE meal, which is something I've never done on Thanksgiving, but the whole reason I'm not going to my mom's or somewhere else is because driving on THanksgiving is the worst day to drive in the WORLD and all of the restaurants I want to go to are sort of far. I'm leaning towards making a small thanksgiving meal for my husband and I to eat while we watch the Cowboys, although, maybe picking up a ready made one would be good. Anyone tried those made by the grocery stores?

I love this article. You really paint a picture with your words and I really enjoy hearing about places I might get to visit one of these days! I am a planner, but I also let myself enjoy the moment and stay open for what might come. When I plan, I usually get at least a few of the things in that we meant to =)
